Build originally in 870, and then re-built after a fire in 1636 - this place is full of history. The staircase and balcony top have wooden carved statues that should be in a museum - beautiful. I was there for a wedding - and the food was great, the service was very attentive and the whole place was clean, organized and very welcoming. Our room was in the center of the house - it had a comfortable, full size bed (not queen), the decorations were a bit old, but they matched the style of the manor. Everything was clean, and not skimped - our bathroom was completely modern with a big shower tub, and all the fixtures were new. We took a 10 minute taxi ride to Aldermaston train station where the trains ran every hour and took us to Reading station - and then back to London - very easy.
