This hotel was the worst place i have ever stayed in,the room was dismal and stank of urine,the carpets were filthy,mix and match furniture,dead flies on window ledges,windows painted shut. There were loads of young people staying and it sounded like they were having parties in the rooms,swearing,yelling and at one point someone banging on our door,i stayed awake most of the night as i felt unsafe,even though my partner was there,we used the hotel as we were travelling to manchester and needed a bed half way from kent,but my god we would have been better sleeping in the car.The sheets were the only thing clean which to be fair was a bonus,the shower worked too,but we had one set of towels,1 glass which looked like it had,had dentures in,cigarette burns on the bathroom floor. Tv was ok but turned itself up and down.We didnt stay long enough for the Continental breakfast,i just wanted out asap,and then we had to phone a telephone number to get a member of staff to take our room cards in morning,when i rang he was still in bed[7.00 am] in morning............Please avoid this dump at all times,absolutely discusting......Would i recommend this to a friend,jesus i wouldnt recommend it to my enemy.

Stayed for 3 nights.. very nice room, friendly staff and helpful.. good breakfast.. for the price it is a more than adequate place to stay, plenty of parking ... would use again next time in reading.

we stayed for one night to have a warm, relaxing night but we got the opposite. we was in room 20 which is not connected to the main building which means walkin out in the rain just to get back in the main building (our card didnt work on the side door either so it ment walking round the front). we arrived about 10.30 pm and the room stunk of cheesy feet but we decided we would deal with it for the night and speak to them in the morning. tried to have a shower but it was barely luke warm and trickled out :(

come morning, we were freezing cold. our clothes were still damp from the night before where we had had no heating on all night.

we decided we'd had enough and complained to reception (after we waited for the manager to get out of bed). they wouldnt turn the heating on and we had to give in to accepting a little heater. we were a little pissed off that he wasnt even up yet when we had to be because breakfast is only 7am to 8.45am.

food was average: the waiter came up to us with no friendly greeting and said 'what do you want'!! there isnt even a menu to see whats on offer!

anyway...moaned alot now, but basically, DONT stay here! its the pits.

they dont seem to accept criticism, and because we had had a moan before breakfast, maybe thats why they were so rude at breakfast.

this place is bad news, smelly and dirty. i would not stay if they piad me.
