“Exceeded Expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My corporate travel agent booked this for me on the basis that I needed a hotel with a car park and our first choice hotels were full. I therefore turned up not knowing quite what to expect but it was actually ok. It is a touch (very) old fashioned - I had a yale key for the first time in a hotel in years and the walk to my room was down a variety of long corridors and stairways that appear to have been decorated based on end of season sale stock. There appeared to be old cast iron radiators everywhere which look like they'd seen many a coat of paint applied over time (some needed some more) and I don't think I've seen doors like that since I was at school. Someone appeared to have tried to iron on the floor in my room - there was an ironing board but also maybe a dozen iron shaped burn marks in the carpet which was a bit odd. That said, the freeview tv was good, room was clean, bathroom was clean (slight smell of paint suggesting it had just been touched up), bed was comfy and room was quiet. Don't get me wrong, if I had the choice again I'm not too sure I wouldn't try elsewhere but I've stayed in far far far worse and paid an awful lot more to do so

Once again than you for your feedback although i think your comment a bit over the top.

The hotel has been closed for the past 2 weeks to start its refurbishment programme which is an ongoing project.

The indian restaurant which is very popular with hotel residents and receives a lot of favourable comments.

“I think the name may be a slight Oxymoron!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

So - the positives.....

Good location if you want to be in Reading Town Centre.

Any more? ummmm..... No.

Above a Curry House, so the hotel smell's like a Bangalore Back Alley.

I am not sure where the Room Photo from the website was taken, but it wasn't from this hotel, that is for sure!

My room was very basic, cramped and dated, I think the carpet was older than me.

The Bathroom was also very basic, and looked like it could do with a good scrub to be honest.

My room was £100 (plus £7 for wired internet), and I would have to say I don't think I can remember feeling more ripped off from a Hotel room.

I have stayed at better Travelodge's for a fraction of the price, so would recommend everyone considering to book this hotel not to bother, or buy a tent, would probably be nicer.

I was tempted to report them to Trading Standards for using the word 'Quality' in the name.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

“Gruesome hotel with no concern for your monies worth”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011 via mobile

Had this hotel booked by my employer for a 3 day training course nearby.
I'm glad I didn't have to pay!
Prior to arrival I mused over the fact it was called "quality" - never a good sign! On arrival I was greeted well enough and had the eating arrangements explained to me - either eat in the attached indian restaurant or walk to another hotel. Nice. I then struggled up the narrow staircases (4 of them) to my room. The carpets on the stairs and hallways were faded and old, and the general consensus was already that this hotel wasn't very good. I arrived at my room, the door was scratched and needed painting. You had to use a Yale key. Very 1970s. At first glance the room was ok, clean and adequate, if not a little small. However, on closer inspection it wasn't so great. An old radiator was cold and paint was flaking off, a great big damp patch on the ceiling, rotten skirting board, a musty smell and the toilet was ridiculous, the door opened by missing the toilet by millimetres. You had to manoeuvre into a corner close the door then you could get to the bath/shower. The bath shower was old and the shower curtain stained. The water pressure was adequate. Basically they had stuck a contempary shelf in with some free soap.
As I had travelled from Cornwall I decided to just lump it. I went to the restaurant, the food was fine and the service ok, however I didn't expect to be frogmarched to the reception counter to prove who I was when charging the meal to my room (even though I had the key).
Next morning I met a colleague who was also staying in the hotel who was also bitterly disappointed so I didn't bother asking to be moving. The breakfast was cold (presumably it comes from the sister hotel round the corner as you had it in the indian restaurant) so I only had it once. I spent as much time away from the hotel as possible, only sleeping there. Other problems - toilet didn't flush properly, windows were single glazed and the room over looked a busy road, the radiator in the bathroom didn't work, bed sheets didn't fit bed... On the last morning, as I was leaving another guest was complaining, basically the reception staff couldn't give a toss.
I generally would not recommend
this hotel.
I have uploaded photos.

“Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

I stayed this weekend with my friends who had come down from India. I would surely like to recommend it to others for the value of money it offers. Good , clean rooms with a warm feel all around . Ideal location as its like in the middle of the town centre , reasonable rates and helpful staff. Not to forget this hotel has an inhouse indian restaurant for the food and ambience that is really good . only draw back i would say abt the restaurant is that we had to wait for an hour for the table due to the waiting list.

Overall the stay was a pleasant one .
