Expected a much higher standard. Lamb chops well cooked, but mash was lumpy and cold. Horrible.Two braised leeks thrown on side of plate, cold and stringy. Lamb shank hadn't seen a marinade at all, pale and very unexciting. Chocolate dessert a much better production. Half price champagne night excellent- good atmosphere and fun. Well done for that as this saved the night. Wouldn't eat here again but would come again for the champagne promotion. Did not stay so cannot rate room, but cannot leave it blank so have put an average.

My sister and I stayed at this excellent small hotel, on recommendation from a friend, for three nights this week. We cannot overstate the welcome we received, the excellent bedrooms, wonderful breakfasts and proximity to the Cotswolds, Oxford etc. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and will certainly return again. Tremendous value for money.

The staff is excellent, restaurant incredible, rooms wonderful. Cozy, but big enough if you aren't into the whole B&B thing.

Stayed at The Bear and decided to eat here for our Saturday evening. Booked on the day.

Couldn't really fault it, the service was friendly and there was a lively local bar with it's own entrance that added good atmosphere but was naturally separated from the diners. The place was packed, which is sometimes a foretaste of slow service but it was all just the right pace and the staff were fun and friendly. (Noticed that the much more expensive Feathers Hotel opposite was practically empty).

The food is delicious, big emphasis on sourcing and flavour and portions are generous - don't eat lunch beforehand.

The hotel looked good, but I'm glad we didn't stay here, it would be noisy above that bar if you wanted an early night - and it's right on the busy main road.
