We stayed here on July 8, 2011. This is the only place I stayed in my month long trip to Europe that made me uncomfortable. The front door enters into a completely dark, narrow hallway (a light eventually flickered on at a half-light, which I’m not sure was much better). There is nothing that even passes for a small entry way or lobby. When we returned from going out a staff person would quietly emerge into the dark hallway from a side room, which was unnerving. The hotel recently changed ownership and the new boss really should consider changing the entry, it is just downright creepy. The two staffers were young men, and sad to say their youth and English language limitations did not help matters. The place was so quiet that I felt like my teenaged daughter and I were the only people in the hotel along with these two young men, and though I eventually saw that they genuinely tried hard to help us and did their best to be good hosts, I never really shook the uncomfortable introduction to the hotel. With respect to the room, the bathroom needed new flooring because the linoleum was stained. The shower grouting area needed some elbow grease. The mattresses seemed somewhat insubstantial, but we were able to sleep. The breakfast area was lovely and the food was fine, although someone heated the oil too hot, causing a greasy smell. There was plenty of hot water and water pressure. The room was plain but quite pleasant, with a pretty blue décor that helped me feel a little more cheerful about our stay. I would not stay here again, the first impression was just too uncomfortable. The owner really needs to redo the entry if he or she wants guests to feel safe and welcome.
