“Say Woodstock Say Butterly”

Totally agree with other reviews. The room was as welcoming as the reception. Very clean, two comfortable easy chairs and footstool and a bed to sleep the sleep of the just.
Tea/coffee making, TV, and an ultra modern ensuite in a building dating back around 400 years.
Room 4 overlooking the market square excellent and virtually next door to the Bear Hotel.
My wife and I ate at the Star, opposite, venison bourginion, £13.95, superb then crossed over to the Bear for drink in the bar, no log fire and after 15 minutes of not being acknowledged left.
We have been to the Bear originally several times in the late 80s and were disappointed by the diffirence in the atmosphere and welcome. To be fair the management response was that they were very busy.
Woodstock is well worth a visit, the Buttery choice of stay, Blenheim Palace and grounds at the end of the main street.

Room Tip: Room 4 above market square was excellent

Found this place as I was walking around woodstock . Had a gourgeous steak sandwich and then felt safe enough to book a room ! The room was immaculate and really in keeping with the age of the building. Had a really big delicious breakfast with proper hot coffee. Would really rerecommend this place to those on a budget as felt it offered great value for money

“I CAN believe it's not Butter!”

Visited with my husband for a cream tea. The scone was harder than a rock cake and stale when I opened it. I asked for it to be replaced which they willingly did and the lady told me she had replaced it with "one that had been baked today!" The new scone was warm but very doughy.......I will not be visitng again which is a shame as staff were nice and the building was a nice place.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

We have been there for two nights in august. Woodstock is a nice place and we enjoyed our stay in the Buttery. The service ist very friendly, the rooms are well equipped and the beds fine. All is clean. Breakfast is inclouded and good. We advise you to have breakfast or lunch in the Buttery. We hope, to come back next year.

“Lucky Find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

During a recent business trip I popped into the Blenheim Buttery for dinner. Food, service, ambience was excellent. Had the good fortune to meet the owner who kindly arranged for me to view available rooms.

As mentioned by other reviewers the rooms are beautifully decorated with wi-fi, excellent linens and bathroom facilities. I did not stay the night as I was already booked into another hotel in the town, which on some nights was very noisy with people sitting at pavement tables drinking directly under the bedroom windows.

Would highly recommend the Blenheim Buttery as a quieter location if you need a good night's sleep. There are no pavement tables and the rooms overlooking the inner courtyard obviously are not facing onto a road, so traffic noise is not an issue. Great for business trips if you need to be near Oxford Airport or North Oxford. On-street parking is common when staying in Woodstock hotels and this is free from 18.00 - 08.00 and then usually the first 1 - 3 hours are free depending where you park. It's very easy to find parking close to the hotel.

A sister hotel is to be found in Oxford, known as The Buttery but have not visited it yet.
