We stayed at the Feathers for one night booking a deal which included one nights accomodation, dinner, bed and breakfast for £75 pppn.
Great hotel in a lovely location for Woodstock and Oxford, although no parking allocated for the hotel but we were lucky and got a bay right outside.
The 'deal' we booked included a double room and although the room was well decorated, it was let down by its size (the bathroom seemed as big as the bedroom) and we had a few minor problems which took the luxe edge off of our stay. Simple things like the alarm clock malfunctioning, it was either ahead of time or behind, so unreliable for a wakeup call or indeed telling the time. Also the desk lamp was not working so couldn't do makeup sitting down in front of the mirror. Plus the telephone in the room was not working, although on charge when it was taken off the cradle immediately lost its charge and turned off, we tried to ring downstairs to reception to get a few bits sorted but struggled to do so. Anyway minor gripes, but that added to the irregular heating, was either freezing cold or overly warm, plus the location of our room right on the road, meant that I had bit of a restless night, having said that my husband slept like a baby and quite frankly in another room these issues wouldn't have occured, plus the restaurant and gin bar MORE than made up for these small problems.
We ate at the main restaurant and chose the a la carte menu (although could have upgraded to the tasting menu for £20 extra pp) and upgraded again to the gin tasting menu (the table next to us did and it was quite something to see 7 varieties of gin being served with each of their courses).
Dinner was spectacular, 5* indeed, an amuse bouche to start, some chef's canape's with our drinks in the bar, we had the pigeon to start and then the beef and assiette of pork, both delish. Great wine selection too.
Breakfast the next morning was good, good enough selection for us, although perhaps some eggs benedict/florentine wouldn't have gone amiss. Perhaps some labels for each of their cereals and juices would have been helpful. Cooked breakfast very good, all ingredients very high quality.
All in all a very nice stay, be advised they add service onto your overall bill, it is discresionary but i wouldn't have wanted to ask for it to have been removed!
Also it was clear when we checked in that the hotel was far from full and in these instances it makes you wonder if, when on one of the 'room deals' you are seen as a poor relation and not worthy of a complimentary upgrade. I'd suggest that at least 50% + of the rooms were unoccupied, and therefore we could have been given a larger superior room, however I guess our deal meant we did pay peanuts for the accomodation and spent only our sleeping hours there.
Would recommend the hotel, very nice walk to Blenheim and its gardens, would recommend to others.
