Fabulous location in a picture-perfect village. As expected, this 13th century property is loaded with character and the rooms are well equipped with extremely comfortable beds. We thought the restaurant and bar were a little pricey but there are abundant alternatives within a 2-3 minute walk in this compact village. The hotel is on the doorstep of the Blenheim Palace and the regular bus service to Oxford meant our two day visit went all too quickly.

We arrived on New Years Eve to very smart and efficient reception and were shown to our room straight away. The room, although not as big as some was in a quiet part of the hotel, which is what we requested. The service at this hotel was excellent, as was the food. It is in the perfect location for this type of break as New Year's day we walked around the Park of Blenheim Palace, just up the road. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Woodstock High street, even over a bank holiday. If you like "oldy worldy", small and friendly this is the perfect getaway hotel for couple's, walkers and everyone looking for a chilled out break. Thank you to the staff for making our weekend an enoyable one.

We stayed back in October and i must say it was just perfect. The hotel is set in the most beautiful little village but with regular buses into oxford city center. It has a lovely country feel to the place but has all the up to date bits and pieces we need in modern life.
The breakfast is cooked to order and was outstanding, the service was swift and friendly throughout our stay.The room and bed were fantastic and i would honestly recommend this hotel to anyone. I would also like to mention 1 member of the team in particular which was Sean. He had such a friendly way about him, you could tell when speaking with him that really cares about your stay. He made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for him.

My Mother and I decided to spend Christmas this year at the Bear - what a delight. From start to finish we couldn't have asked for better food, better service, better hotel. Great value for money and I would recommend spending a traditional Christmas at the Bear to everyone.

Yes, the rooms are a bit creaky and the walls a bit thin (I had a bad snorer in the room next to me) and the WIFI really does need upgrading as BT OpenZone is soooooooo sloooooowwwww but the staff's attitude and desire to try and resolve every issue made it bearable (excuse the pun)

Would definitely recommend this hotel and Thank You to the Bear from making Christmas 2011 one of the best I can remember
