The room was clean but basic. It is well situated for a night or two but wouldnt want to stay longer. We were woken during the night by very noisy plumbing in adjacent room. Pointed it out to the manager so perhaps it has been fixed?

This is a pub for locals with sky sports, snooker table etc. The web site hinted a nice dining area with varied menu, in reality there were a few tables in the main bar, no sight of a menu or promotion of any food. After the pub closed, noise from the outside seating area went on until well after midnight with no regard for residents in rooms. The room was adequate, but the mattress was old & creaked every time you moved, there was no hairdryer in the room & the shower needed a clean. Room was very over-priced for the standard.

I really want to be able to recommend this inn. It is in a great location in the center of Woodstock, a short walk to Blenheim Palace. The nice lady (sorry I don't remember her name), cooked us an absolutely delicious, full English breakfast each morning (the best we had during our England visit). We also had a couple of delicious dinner meals at the pub. I think the lady that cooked our breakfasts was also responsible for cleaning the rooms and I think she did a great job with what she had to work with. The owner just needs to update the rooms. This is such a wonderful little inn. What is important to you when you travel? I don't need fancy. I just want a basic, clean room, with a clean bathroom and a reasonably comfortable bed. These beds were so creaky and by the time we checked out after a couple of nights, I had a pretty bad backache. The carpet is stained and the floor in the bathroom (linoleum) was badly buckled and pulling away from the shower and walls. Where moisture had collected in these spaces, there was mildew. It was supposed to have free wifi, but we could only access it down the hall from our room or in the pub downstairs. Not a biggy unless you really need access in your room. We loved this place so much, despite the negatives. It has such character and nice people work here. I hope the owner reads this and invests some money in updating it. I want to be able to return here!

Rude staff, dirty bathroom (washbasin had facial hair in it), generally dirty place, noisy and a very poor reflection of the lovely town and beautiful Palace
If you have the budget to go anywhere else, I'd recommend you do. If you don't I'd recommend a Travel Lodge outside Woodstock, or even camping rather than wasting your money here!
