“No sleep because of continuous snoring all night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Pros:

- Nice breakfast
- Room ok and clean
- Location not bad about 10mins walk into centre
- We were able to leave our luggage there in the day which was brilliant because then we could do what we wanted in the day.

Cons:
- I wasn't able to sleep all night because of continous loud snoring. There wasn't a hotel room next to us on that side, but there was the owners part of the hotel (their private accomodation) so I think it has to have been the owners. It was so loud and no let up all night. Stopped at 7am when they got up to make the breakfast but then they obviously had a shower and the plumbing must have some how been linked because once they started the shower it sounded like the taps in our room had been turned on full!
- I cannot beleive they have not had a complaint about the snoring in that particular room before and if, as an owner you know there is a snoring issue, they should either get it sorted or not charge people for that particular room.

Conc: Nice, but why should I pay for a night of no sleep because the owner wants to snore?!

Room Tip: Don't have a room anywhere close to the owners side if you want to sleep.

“Dissapointing”

This B & B looked very nice on the website, but the pictures of the rooms have been exagerated to make them look larger. We had a very poorly decorated room at the top of the 3 storey building which was tiny. You had to be very careful not to bag your head on the ceiling getting into and out of bed. The bathroom was also tiny, unable to sit normally on the toilet but had to perch sideways as your kness did not fit in the space. The room was generally in poor repair and bathroom needed a good clean. The breakfast was ok but choice was limited.

“Great Location, Good Service, Average Rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

This has both good and bad sides, so decide for yourself.
The Good:
- Free parking. Oxford city centre is not car-friendly or parking-friendly. Park and walk.
- Friendly service. The owner (or I presumed he was) is an odd man but pleasant and accomodating. The woman who check us in was simply adorable.
- Good breakfast. You get a good choice of 3 breakfasts, and although it's not earth-shattering, it's edible and does its job to start your day.
- Good location. Exit the front door, turn left, and continue on for 15 minutes - you are straight in the city centre. Also, a walk back after a meal / drink out - very good to get you some fresh air and admire the architecture.
- The beds were good, the bathroom was clean and decent, and it was warm and easily accessible. Kind of what you want in a bnb.
The Bad:
- Our room had an unused fireplace, and the smell of ash was sometimes overpowering. I felt like there was an ashtray in the room at times, which - when you're not a smoker - might be slightly uncomfortable
- I would not exactly call it the cosiest room I've ever stayed in, so if you're picky when it comes to aesthetics - you might want to look somewhere else. It was decent, but very, very basic, and with not even an attempt at any type of decor.

“Disappointed”

We booked in here for a weekend and were asked to pay for our stay before we even saw the accommodation. Sadly the rooms did not resemble any of the photographs on their web page, it was all very down market and resembled student digs. One of the rooms had an overpowering smell of sewage/drains and we were forced to leave and find alternative accommodation.
Very over priced for what you were getting and no matter how good the breakfast would have been it would never have been good enough to make up for the sad decor and depressing rooms. We will certainly choose more carefully next time.

“Look elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

The positives: Staff are friendly and efficient, and the breakfast included is good. Plenty of choice to start your day. Location is perfect.

The negatives: the rooms desperately need refurbishment/updating. Mismatched decor, terrible bed and in the beginning of winter we were expecting a duvet of some description but it was wafer thin. The room is cold and the Walls are very thin. You can hear people's conversations in depth. The bathroom is nice but basic, and the extractor fan sounds like a Boeing 747. Through the night there's all sorts of noises and depending on where your room is facing you could end up facing a very busy road which is the main route into Oxford city centre. The. Internet is very intermittent and the t.v in the room is so tiny it isn't worth having in the room. If you can get closer into the city for the same/cheaper you would be making a wise choice

Room Tip: When booking, ask for a room facing the car park to avoid the road
