“Cheap & cheerful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed here on a Thursday for business because of an event across the road at Ozone Leisure Park. They have an agreement with the restaurants in the complex for dinner to be charged to your room if you wish. We ate at the Indian buffet place (Aziz Express) which was faultless and very reasonably priced! Checked in late without fuss and room was ok, though quite cold as radiator wasn't giving out any heat despite being "on" full. Slept well enough because it was quite quiet (usually wake at the slightest noise). Bed was a bit lumpy and springy, but a nice touch with a choice of soft and harder pillows. Continental breakfast which I didn't bother. Reception ordered me a taxi which turned up within 5 minutes and off I went to the train station. Nothing in the area except Ozone Leisure Park with a cinema, bowling alley and a few restaurants.

“Good for the Inner Circle of Hell”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

You'll get a good night's sleep here most of the week: concrete floors and walls, good double glazing. It's built like a nuclear bunker because it is immediately next to a football stadium and presumably soccer fans can do less damage when headbutting concrete. A notice next to the lift asks (in polite terms) 3am revellers not to bounce on their heads and urinate in other guests' doorways. I guess it's like staying next to an estuarial sewer outlet - it's OK most of the time but you don't want to stay there at high tide.
The staff are polite and helpful. The decor is good for budget.
There is a Frankie & Benny's and a Chinese just round the corner, and b*****-all else for light-years. This really is am Arsch der Welt. But on the other hand the location is good for the road network.
The stay is spoilt for a ha'porth of tar. If the breakfast were any better it would be mediocre, and they charge for wifi. (If you haven't already, get a mobile with Tethering - download your business emails for nothing in places like this.) There's a bar but no food - I guess that's a reflection of their usual market.
In spite of the location, this place could be good - but I guess they have to cater mostly for football fans, so it's unlikely to change.

Room Tip: Make damn sure you don't stay when there is a football match on.

The Holiday Inn Express Oxford is localed close to the Kassan Stadium, a quite area outside the city. Confortable room and very good price! Free parking and good breakfast. Do not go there if you are not traveling by car.

“Typical Holiday Inn - Clean and tidy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

A nice place to stay as a stopover. A bit hard to find but I didn't have a GPS. The only problem is there is no place to eat at the hotel or nearby. Had to order in and the choice was rather poor. Good spot if you want to get to a football match as you can see into the stadium. But otherwise, a good cheap clean hotel and would recommend as a stopover.
