“Very welcoming with a great breakfast and first class service”

I stayed here for a conference that was being held in the nearby Barcelo Hotel in April 2009. Arden Lodge is very close but a fraction of the price. I asked for the largest room but was only charged for single occupancy. This was not an oversight, it was part of a very good deal!

Mr Price was very polite and welcoming. The breakfast and service were first class. Everything was clean and tidy. I am very pleased with my stay and am planning to stay there again for the conference next year.

Just a couple of words of warning: first, the mattress was too cheap so when one lies on the bed the mattress compressed to nothing and it is like lying on a hard board. It is a very minor point for me because I don't mind sleeping on a hard surface, but it might bother some people. This would be a very easy problem to fix, I don't know why this has been skimped on. Second, there is no wireless internet access. Some B&Bs have this now so Arden Lodge needs to catch up. Still, on all other points it gets top marks.

“Really pleasant stay”

Stayed here overnight in Dec 2007 while visiting friends in Oxford. Had a very warm welcome from Mr. Price and a lovely little double room with ensuite shower room at the back of the house so it was very quiet. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and very tasty. VERY cheap for Oxford, though this is because it is far from the centre - but it is on good bus routes and a taxi into town will only be around GBP 5-7. There is plenty of space to park, too, and you avoid having to navigate the city centre traffic! All in all, highly recommended.

We use Arden Lodge every year for the Formula 1 British Grandpix the owner is so accomodating and even sorts us out with a packed lunch because we set off before six in the morning on race day.nothing is too much bother and although we only go one weekend in the year my son and i are always made very welcome
