“Better Than Some”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

This is, actually, not a bad Travelodge compared to some and does have the advantage of being close to the pretty town of Thame which is worth a stroll into (or short car journey)

The Travelodge company HQ is just across the roundabout and this hotel is tucked into the corner of a services containing a Little Chef and Burger King. Standard stuff but I would say that the staff here (who used to be at nearby Wheatley) are extremely friendly and professional in their manner. I also noticed on this visit that the walls in the corridors had had a lick of paint (wonders will never cease!!)

My room, again, was standard Travelodge accomodation; but clean and warm having had the heating left on. Much welcomed with the outside temperatures close to zero. Good sized bed as usual. Though the hotel is next to a busy main road there is little, if any, road noise. Location is also convenient for the M40 (about a 10 minute drive away)

So; all in all a better than average Travelodge should you want budget accomodation in the area. If there was a choice, however, Premier Inn every time in this price bracket!!

“Really Nice Basic Hotel After Bad First Impressions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My Fiance and I stayed here on the weekend just gone (21st/22nd Jan) as we were in the area looking for wedding venues.
The Travelodge is situated on a busy road off a roundabout with the Travelodge not very well signposted so we ended up missing the turning the first time round.
The Travelodge is situated at the end of a Cul - de - sac with a petrol station, Burger King and a Little Chef in it. The parking is for both the Travelodge and Burger King with it signpost that one end is for Burger King and one end for Travelodge (although it is not signposted very well) The Car park is more or less in darkness apart from the few spaces outside of the actual door of the Travelodge so the car park at 6pm on a winters evening is actually a very intimidating place and I even mentioned to my fiance whether our car would safe if left here.
Inside we were met at an empty desk but a press to find the receptionist (he has a handheld phone which rang when someone wanted help at the desk. The gentleman was very polite and helpful and asked if we wanted to have breakfast and if so what time (Me and my fiance groaned at this thought as we are not morning people and hate having to go to breakfast at a certain time we find it too restrictive for us) but the receptionist said breakfast comes to us in a little bag which is great for us! They also said we could have hot snacks (a choice of a burger/panini or sandwich) available 24 hours a day which we liked the idea of as didn't feel like going to the Little Chef or Burger King for dinner.
We went into Room 12 which was right by the door leading from the rooms to the reception, The room was warm and clean with tea/coffee facilities. We had one extra pillow behind the door but we needed another one as the bed is so low which they went to find for us and gave us 5 mins later.
We both had a panini later on about 10pm which we ordered at the reception and the gentleman brought it to our room, The snack was a microwaved processed snack but fine for us.
The petrol station opposite was handy for extra snacks we wanted and is 24 hours which was good when I needed something for indigestion in the very early hours of the morning.
I know other reviewers have claimed the beds weren't comfy but we found them very comfy and had a good nights sleep.
When it camed to the breakfast. no one knocked on the door to tell us it was outside at the time we asked for so it was just lucky we looked. The breakfast was basic but very nice and sufficiant with a croissant, cereal with a small bowl of milk attached, jam orange juice you couldn't ask for any more.
When checking out the receptionist asked if everything is ok which it was. Overall the staff are lovely polite and attentive and the hotel is basic like a travelodge would be but very nice.
Hope this review helps.

Room Tip: Rooms 10 - 12 are very near the door leading from the reception to the rooms so can be slightly nois...

“You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We had to change one of the rooms we had booked because there was a bad smell of damp. Our room, which was cold when we arrived because the heater had not been turned on, (3c outside), although a good size, was dirty. The floor did not seem to have been vacuumed and the sofa, which converts into a bed, plus the chair by the dressing table both had unpleasant
stains! Although a family room there were not enough pillows or towels but the receptionist, who was pleasant enough, delivered extras promptly. The bathroom floor was also dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned after the previous guest. The shower was, however, good and hot. We slept fitfully under a warm duvet but, unfortunately, the mattress was not comfortable. A disappointing stay and we would not really recommend this hotel unless there were no other vacancies in the town.
The ratings include marks for room service and spa, but there was neither in this hotel.

Room Tip: Book at Premier Inn for a budget night's stay instead.

“Please buy new beds!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stopped in Thame en route to the south of England - choosing Thame because of the lovely thai restaurant and pub - Pad Thai at the Rising Sun in Thame town. The Travelodge is fine, basic, clean and friendly staff - but all Travelodges we've stayed in recently have the most dreadful beds, which are desperately in need of replacement.

“Good basic hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We stayed here for a wedding and paid £50 for two nights. It is slightly outside of Thame but only a £5 taxi ride away. Friends of ours stayed on the high street and paid quadruple what we did and from what I saw of their hotels I was glad we went for the budget option.
Staff on reception were friendly and accommodating. The corridors to the rooms area bit of a maze.
The room itself was clean and comfortable.
The hotel is next to a petrol station and a little chef, which was very handy for breakfast.
