“disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This hotel is fine, there is nothing dreadful about it, but I was disappointed, so it just depends what you are looking for.
My negative points are – the TV was on in the lounge and the bar the entire length of our stay – if you don’t like football or other sport than this could be annoying. We were after a nice quiet are to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and this was not possible as even in the outer lounge in the corridor you can still hear the TV.
The food is not great.. its ok, but it is not worth a dinner bed and breakfast deal in my view
The night staff on my stay were appalling rude.
On a more positive note, the bedroom was stayed in was fitted out to a good modern standard and the breakfast was ample.

We have been here before but are always objective.Reception very good and offer to help with luggage.Rooms very cosy and plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate , shampoo and shower gel which was also replenished on day two.The breakfast was waiter served for the main course and tea or coffee and was excellent.Every member of staff we encountered had a smile and the Arezzo restaurant was also good.Plenty of parking.A few minutes stroll for river walks where there is The Isis Farmhouse pub,Only opens Friday to Sunday in winter season additionally on Thursdays and bank holiday Mondays in Summer.Apart from hotel bar there is a bar in the Tree hotel and Prince of Wales pub en route to the river.Frequent buses to Oxford, from stop five minutes away. The ideal village location for complete peace and the attractions of the area.Minutes from the ring road.

“Pleasant stay & good base to explore Oxford”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed on a deal from Travelzoo, which included dinner & breakfast. Our room was at Elm House, away from the main building, which we didn't mind, as there was a wedding celebration going on, so it was peaceful and quiet in our room. The room was nicely decorated in a contemporary style, with a plush feeling and a modern and clean bathroom. Dinner was average, nothing outstanding, but good value for the package we booked. The same goes for breakfast. The dining room decoration is a bit odd, some out-dated Greek style, which doesn't go with the hotel style throughout. The lounge could do with an update as well. Overall it was a nice stay and very good value for money.
We recommend walking to Oxford along the river, visiting The Prince of Wales Pub down the raod and the lock by the river.

“Wedding venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We went to a wedding here in October, just as the leaves were turning Autumn colours which were stunning. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The reception was great, the staff were great, and we had a truly memorable experience,

“We love this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We have many fantastic memories of this hotel and have been 10+ times over seven years. It is in the village of Iffley but a 40 minute walk along the river to the city centre. If you don't want to walk then a 5 minute walk to the bus stop.

The hotel has lovely suroundings, two local pubs, a bar and a restaurant. The food is excellent but also reasonable. Breakfast very good. The service is good.

I would advise anyone to use this hotel.

Room Tip: Stay in the main house if possible.
