Just got back from a two night visit to The Old Bank Hotel and can safely say it's one of the best hotels I've stayed in.

The room was exceptionally clean and well maintained and will excellent amenities. The beds were ludicrously comfortable and all the bed linen was like new.

All the staff we came across, Reception, Chambermaid, Restaurant and Bar, were all exceptionally friendly and professional and the level of service was incredibly good.

The restaurant was excellent and great value, offering a very informal setting (the courtyard terrace was particularly charming), an interesting menu with truly excellent quality ingredients. We dined there for breakfast, lunch and dinner - I've never stayed in a hotel where I really don't want to eat anywhere else in town!

Overall I can't recommend it enough for a visit to Oxford.

We stayed for 2 nights on a last minute booking. Hotel was clean, comfortable with soft squishy bed and pillows. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was very pleasant, especially if you like Jazz on a Sunday evening (we don't, but that didn't spoil or stay at all). Would definitely visit here again.

The only downside was actually locating the car park. We had to contact the hotel to ask for directions, even our sat nav tried to take us down streets without accessibility.

Hotel is in a brilliant location within minutes walking distance of most amenities. Would recommend a visit to Christ Church college and cathedral on an overcast morning.

We stayed here for one night during a weekend break to Oxford. The hotel met our expectations and we couldn't fault the cleanliness, amenities or friendly staff and the location in central Oxford was perfect. The room was a reasonable size for a city centre hotel and it was fairly quiet too. The decor was maybe a little drab for our tastes (olive grey paintwork) but at least it was all clean and tidy. One warning though - if you stay in a top-floor room like we did then mind your head! Our room had a sloping ceiling and I managed to crack my head on the ceiling when I stepped backwards in the shower over the bath. Probably my own fault but there weren't any signs up to remind you. We opted to eat breakfast in a Patisserie just up the road rather than spend the extra on the hotel breakfast, and I'm glad we did as they did some very nice croissants for much less than the hotel were charging (which was about £12 each for a continental buffet).
One other thing to note in case you don't know Oxford: it has the worst traffic system I have ever come across and you will get lost! Even with the help of a sat-nav it was quite difficult, part of this was due to roadworks in the centre at the time of our visit, but mostly it was down to the bus-only routes. The hotel does have a small car park at the rear of the hotel and you have to navigate the back steets to find it. We opted to stop in a bus stop at the front of the hotel and ask at reception for directions.

I stayed here with friends in August and had a great time! Staff were extremely helpful and efficient, from booking taxis to suggesting places to visit in the area. They couldn't do enough to help us. The rooms are lovely - small but very nice. Bathrooms are stylish and spotless. Lovely comfy beds and fluffy towels and crisp sheets.

The service at Quod restaurant was consistently slow and surly and the food was nothing to shout about. We had dinner, two breakfasts and afternoon tea there over a weekend and were amazed at the bad attitude of the staff. One member of bar staff was great but the rest were moody and unhelpful.
