I usually enjoy taking lunch in the courtyard of this hotel.

However today I experienced some very bad service. My wife asked for the new item on the menu, an asparagus salad at £7.95!
When it came it comprised no more that 2 sticks of asparagus-cut into pieces, a small amoutn of rocket, a few peas and few beans--the volume (uncompressed) would have been no more than half-a tea cup.
t time of paying the bill--informed the manager..who waffled at length, and eventually left us with the possibility of a coffee on the house some day.

I cannot think of any restaurant in the world where I would have paid that amount (more than an 800% markup) for this trivia.

It is one thing to make a mistake of this kind-it is another (unforgiveable) mistake not to put the matter right immediately. That is what service is all about.

Charming, olde English hotel. The room was rather tiny, but we were only going to sleep in it so that didn't matter, nor the fact that it overlooked the car park. (I could keep an eye on my car so that was good!)
Food was good, decor comfortable and classy and it's location was absolutely ideal. I would stay again.

The Old Parsonage Hotel provided a nice, quite, and friendly place to stay, with a fantastic location in Oxford. The rooms were always clean and perfect for our week long stay. The front desk staff was very friendly and always more than happy to suggest fun and interesting things to do in and around Oxford. Definitely the place to stay in a 'must visit' city!

My husband and I decided on a whim to get out of the city for the weekend. We made the reasonably easy 1 hour drive to Oxford and booked last minute to stay at the Old Parsonage. At the last minute price deal, we were very pleased to find a delightful little really first rate hotel, centrally located, but just far away enough from the hustle and bustle of busy Cornmarket in the town center. The very sweet staff made for quick and easy check-in and we were shown to our lovely, cozy room. Later in the evening, the hotel bar and restaurant were filled with people - seemingly some of Oxford's most distinguished. We had planned to eat out, but we just didn't want to leave this charming setting! The food was delicious and the intimate setting filled with patrons made me feel like I was in a popular Bloomsbury drawing room! It was a spectacular, leisurely meal.
In the morning, we awoke and enjoyed a really excellent full English breakfast before heading out for a walk around town. It was, all in all, such a pleasant and surprisingly romantic weekend for us. If you're looking for a place to stay with sophisticated, thoroughly English appeal, I'd highly recommend the Old Parsonage.
