“Not what it says on the tin”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

A disappointingly average hotel. The staff are disinterested and the whole place smells of fish. Well, the rooms are in and above the Loch Fyne fish restaurant, so hardly surprising. Breakfast service was a joke.

We had really looked forward to our night in Henley - and were thrilled to find Milsom's on the Internet. At last - it seemed - Henley had stepped up to the plate, and were offering good value, clean, fresh accomodation. Not. Seriousy not.

“Don't stay here! Extremely poor customer service”

I booked 6 out of the 7 rooms for guests attending my wedding in Henley. The hotel seemed ideal, located very close to the venue and reasonably priced, it was too good to be true!
2 of the rooms did not have curtains in, some of the rooms had been painted the morning of the guest stay and so the guests had to suffer gloss paint fumes, the rooms that had been painted had the windows left open probably to try and get rid of the fumes and so the rooms were very cold, the bathroom skylight of one room was propped open with a screwdriver.
The car parking that was promised was not available, one guest left his car key with the hotel as they said they would park it for him, but they did not lock it.
Breakfast was poor, the quantity and quality of the service and the food was sub standard.
The check out process was very time consuming as they did not seem to have any staff available.
I did contact Milsoms to advise them of the problems that my wedding guests experienced, while staying at their hotel, but I did not receive any form of response from them.

“Good priced accommodation bang in the centre of Henley”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

My other half and I stayed for one night in room seven on a Tuesday. The price was £85 for the room, including breakfast and parking, which I think is a bit of a bargain for Henley.

Room seven is on the top floor and has a vaulted ceiling and nice views of the town square. It is just the right size for two and appeared nice and clean. Having said that, it did have a very odd smell to it, a bit like stilton cheese.

I would stay again and hope the smell was a one off freak event!

“value and clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

this is a well priced and comfortable place to stay. Rooms are clean and modern and staff friendly and helpful. I tend to stay on the upper floors I am not sure about room 1 which is near the entrance. there is a lovely feel about the place and it is attached to Loch Fynne which serves as your breakfast venue. Service can be a bit slow in the morning but if you are in a hurry the girls will sort it.I have stayed elsewhere in Henley - pound for pound this is best value

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

The Milsom advertising brochure and website - www.milsomshotel.co.uk promote the logo ' small hotels with style', but it is not clear if the four small Hotels, situated at Bath, Henley, Kenilworth and Poole are part of the expensive 'Milsoms' chain of beautiful and exclusive country hotels and restaurants.

The Henley on Thames 'Milsoms' features seven bedrooms above the Loch Fyne Restaurant in the town centre, and at £65.00 represented excellent value for money for a one night mid week stay. The bedroom was large, well equipped and very clean, and breakfast in the Loch Fyne Restaurant was excellent.
Street cleaning in the Market Square may disturb light sleepers after 6.30am, if the bedroom overlooks that area, and the initial welcome from the Hotel Receptionist lacked professionalism and warmth. But overall the value for money was exceptional.
