“Imperial B&B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2008

Stayed overnight for a wedding.....................once we'd climbed the neverending stairs to our room it was really just a glorified B&B room.

Not very big but more than adequate.

It's in a good spot the Imperial quite near the station and a stroll from the river so fine if you're just using the place to put your head down, but you are paying Henley prices so be warned!

Then again it does look nice from the outside & the staff were pleasant!

“Simply awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2007

Admittedly it was 12 months ago that we stayed here, but I have only just found this website - speaks volumes that the experience lingers long enough in the mind or me to still be fuming about it.

We arrived on a Saturday morning to be faced by a giggling female receptionist being groped by another member of staff. Bad, but not as bad as him continuing to prod and "massage" her as she attempted to check us in. Not surprisingly she couldn't find our booking.

When we eventually were told where our room was, the keys were thrown across the desk and a finger pointed us in the direction of the stairs - no offer of assistance with the bags, despite my wife being 8 months pregnant at the time.

The room was shabby and dark - more like a B&B from the 70s than a not inexpensive "hotel". The night was even worse as we were woken every 3 minutes by the kitchen's air-conditioning unit that was outside our window.

Breakfast was a joke - the "waiter" asked what I would like for breakfast (eventually). As there were no menus I asked what the choice was "Full English" came the turgid response. "I guess I'll have that then" was my equally turgid response.

In summary - don't go here, spend the extra and go to the Red Lion by the Bridge or Hotel Du Vin.The Imperial has no redeeming features whatsoever and the staff were appalling.

Contrary to the report of 25 January 2005 my wife and I found the Manager and all other staff very helpful and friendly. Food at breakfast and service were good.
