“Super sweet abode you'd never wish to leave!”

I really like this hotel. It looks like a small cottage from the outside but this is a very comfortable hotel full of quirky rooms with all mod cons. The restaurant was very good although a little too ..hush hush darling..for me to really rave about it.I would prefer it if it was a little more vibrant and relaxed as this 'whispering atmosphere' made it a little too old for my liking. However the interior design, art, log fires, gorgeous garden, great food super location all made up for this and I would certainly go back. Great hotel for a romantic break not sure how suitable this place would be for children...

“Perfect 3 night stay.”

Have just spent 3 nights away at The Lamb Inn, Burford, with my Wife. Cannot fault the time we spent there. The staff are friendly and attentive without being obtrusive or over bearing. All in all it felt like our very own "home from home" with comfy sofas, excellent food&drink, and roaring log fires. Book with confidence.

“Cosy winter stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

A great place for sitting by real log fires and as a base for taking bracing walks across the open country. We took advantage of attractive January rates for dinner, bed and breakfast on a Sunday night and stayed in the Shepherd Room with a four-poster. It was all comfortable and the food was good, but the inn is showing some signs of shabbiness round the edges. However, recommended as a good value getaway, within easy reach of London.

Room Tip: Worth paying a bit extra for a feature room

“Delightful Old English hotel with exceptional food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We were part of a group of five couples who have recently returned from an excellent long weekend away at The Lamb. It is classic "Old English" with low ceilings, flagstone floors and great big roaring log fires in huge fireplaces. The food however is absolutely 21st century with a delicious and imaginative menu. The bedrooms have names, not numbers. We were in "Windrush" with a large comfortable bed, ample wardrobe and drawer space and a well appointed bathroom en suite. At breakfast I would recommend the eggs benedict as a really good start to the day.
All the staff were extremely attentive from a cheery "Good morning" from the receptionist first thing in the morning to the knowledgeable and professional waiters and waitresses in the dining room. The hotel even offered a bed turning down service to refresh our room whilst we were at dinner. All in all an exceptional weekend. Well done!

“Traditional old English Inn with excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

The Lamb Inn is a 15th century building that is absolutely filled with character - stone floors, wooden beams, log fires and antique furniture - and situated very close to the centre of this historic town. The bedrooms vary considerably in size and quality and on this visit we were disappointed with our room which was small and had a very small bathroom and a poor quality mattress that was not comfortable. That said, the room did have all of the amenities that we expected and was nicely furnished. If you have any mobility problems it would be best to contact the hotel for advice on a suitable room as the access to some bedrooms is via a steep and slightly tricky staircase. The welcome at reception on arrival was friendly and all of the staff that we met during our stay were helpful and efficient. Dinner was excellent and the restaurant fully deserves its two AA rosettes. The quality of ingredients and the presentation of the dishes were first class. Breakfast was also of a very high standard and the locally sourced sausage, bacon and black pudding were top class. All in all, a great place to experience English tradition and good food in a relaxing atmosphere.
