Booked this as a last minute deal after finding out we had to go to Nottingham over my husbands birthday weekend. What a great find, the room we had (Robert Burns) was the standard room, I had called to upgrade but it was fully booked, we were not disappointed, the room was full of character and felt in keeping with the hotel. Dinner in the Georgetown was excellent and the restaurant was very busy so if you are staying here then I suggest you make a reservation prior to arriving (we almost didnt bother, so glad that we did) Our only disappointment was that the bar had been hired out, given that it is in an slightly isolated area we had a couple of drinks in the restaurant but then retired to our room earlier than expected.
The gardens are lovely and I imagine in the summer a great place to relax. If you are looking for a place to relax and switch off this is it, if you are looking for tons of facilities to keep you occupied it is not - no health clubs or pools. For us it was a perfect weekend escape from a busy week and we will definately return.
(a note for the hotel - whilst it did not detract from our stay I have to agree with another reviewer re the room trays - we passed the same icebucket and glasses on both Saturday and Sunday - did not look great)
