“Good value hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

I stayed here on business and booked though a web based company. The hotel was good value for the money. It was a clean , large room with 42 inc tv. The food was very responsible and good standard . It's not the most modern hotel but great for my purpose and great value . I would use hotel again if working in area.

Good food, good romms, staff plesent, only one problem resturant not open on Sunday evenings and as we booked D,B&B I felt we should have been told this at time of booking via Best SWestern web sight.
Our room was large and very comfortable.
If looking for a place in Nottingham we would return here.

“Good location but noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

We booked here as it was one of the few hotels with rooms remaining for the dates we were after. The parking is free, a bonus, as ones right in the city centre all charge 12-14 a night. We arrived before 2pm and there were no rooms available, which was fine, as we didn't think there would be. However, they couldn't just do check in either. Bit odd really. The room was clean and everything was in working order. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space. I did find the room temperature became quite hot in the night, even in December. The shower was not overly powerful, but it did the job, and they did have the added touch of complimentary shower gel and liquid soap. My main issue with this hotel is that the floor boards everywhere in the hotel creak loudly so you are disturbed by people in the other rooms and in the corridors. The walls were also thin so you could hear conversations in the adjoining room.We paid the extra few pounds for the hot buffet breakfast. This was a rather chaotic scene, with not enough tables for guests, not enough staff to clear tables or serve tea and toast and definitely not enough staff to keep the food stocked up on the buffet. I also thought they could have done with serving breakfast on a Sunday till after 10am. 11am would have been much better. I could not be bother to join the long, snaking queue for the hot food (especially as there was no meat alternative on offer from bacon and sausage) so opted for a continental style breakfast. It was ok, nothing special, this was also what my husband though of the hot food. All in all, its an ok hotel, ideally placed for Nottingham city centre with bus stops right outside the hotel.
My advice would be, don't bother with the breakfast, take some ear plugs and maybe look to book at a discounted rate, rather than the £74 we paid.

“Better Than I Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Unlike most Best Western hotels, this appers to be a family run establishment, but to be honest, I couldn't tell the difference. Staff were excellent, friendly and professional and check in etc was trouble free.
The decor is a talking point - as others have mentioned. It really felt like I had walked into a 1970s room - but that said, it was actually quite refreshing. The decorations certinaly weren't old and the room itself was very tidy and well maintained, as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the flatscreen TV was actually really good quality indeed - maybe one of the best pictures I've seen in ages.
I didn't eat in the evening at the hotel - there is a good big pub across the road if you like a burger with your football on the pub TV, so fine with me. Breakfast was OK - not the best I've ever had but certainly not the worst
Only two slight criticisms - they turn the heating off at night so I did wake up a bit chilly and the bath is tiny......... like hobbit sized!!!
When all said and done though, for £55 inc breakfast it was a brilliant bargain and I will definately be staying there again

Room Tip: Avoid a room at the front if possible - it's a busy road

“Just the job”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Staying overnight just north of the city centre close to my work the following day, so this hotel was well placed. It proved to be cheap and cheerful, no frills but I didn't want any on this occasion - got what I paid for and that was just fine. Great evening meal at a reasonable price and decent breakfast the morning afterwards. Room was clean, tidy and I welcomed the large flat screen tv. Facilities worked well and enjoyed the complimentary biscuits. Friendly, helpful staff. Cramped parking a problem, but using train so not for me. Would stay again in a similar trip.
