“Below the expected standard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed here because of the proximity to the Capital Arena, and because the Hilton has such a good reputation. We found the room small, and the furnishings old and damaged with cigarette burns. The lift wasn't working, so we had to keep fit going up three flights of stairs, through draughty corridors with windows that wouldn't shut. The tables in the restaurant were dirty, and there were bowls put out for breakfast with last night's dinner on them. Better management and attention to detail could repair the problems quickly, and I give the overall experience an average rating. I think I'd say it was as good as a Travelodge, but more expensive.

Dear Midgebuster,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about your stay here at Hilton Nottingham on tripadvisor.

I am glad you found the location of the hotel to be excellent and very convenient for your trip to the Capital FM Arena.I am however very sorry to hear that your stay wasn't as you expected it should be. I would like to take this opportunity to both apologise for the dated furnishings and also to inform you that we are currently in the middle of our Bedroom and Corridor refurbishment programme which will directly address the issues you have highlighted in your comments.

I will ensure I pass on your comments about the dirty tables and dishes to the Food and Beverage Manager who will ensure this does not happen again and if necessary will retarin all staff to ensure they fully understand the expected Hilton standards.

I do hope that we will be welcoming you back to the hotel shortly and will look forward to doing so.

Sincerely,

Paul Michael

“Saturday night out in Nottingham”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Having booked a 'Top Secret Hotel' deal online for £55 for the night, this was a great deal and a great location. It's dated, a little bit weathered by years of use and the room overlooked the central 'atrium' which was a crap view, but for a bed for the night, it was ideal. What you'd expect from a Hilton really. The only down side was that there was a regular sound of running water / air con units, but not a problem if you don't have trouble sleeping.

A few things to look out for - no parking. Park in the Trinity Square car park opposite and the hotel will stamp your ticket so you get a discount £13 for 24 hours - not bad really. Also, depending on what deal you get, you won't get breakfast, but it's a city centre with more places to eat than you can shake a stick at, so swerve hotel and get out in the City itself.

Room Tip: If you can get a room not looking in to the centre 'atrium' do so as all you can see is oth...

“Nice city centre hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed for one Saturday night in January 2012. The hotel is pretty much in the centre of nottiungham, right by the Victoria Centre, and in a frankly excellent location. The only downside is that it's very tricky to get to by car and, once you've got there, the few car parking spaces that they have are extremely expensive. The so-called "budget" option for a special rate in the local multi-storey car-park is still almost GBP 15 per night. If you're trying to save money you may be better dropping off your luggage and then using the Nottingham park and ride service.

Anyway, the hotel staff were helpful and friendly - that weekend it was relatively quiet and they offered us a freeupgrade. The room was on the first floor and, whilst not the nicest (or newest) Hilton hotel room we've ever stayed in, it was clean, spacious, comfortable, with all the standard things you'd expect in a hotel of this standard. The bar was a nice enough place to spend a few hours and the hotel gym was ok for a brief training session, although it was a bit hot. We didn't use the restaurant in the evening, but we really enjoyed the breakfast bar the following day. All in all, we found it an excellent value location for an off-peak weekend break.

Dear Ian_New,

Thank you very much for your recent review of our hotel, we greatly appreciate all feedback especially feedback like yours.

I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us, particularly the excellent location of our hotel. Unfortunetly due to our excellent city centre location it does make it a little bit more tricky for guests to find us, however we do provide a concierge service who would be happy to guide and assist any guests to the hotel.

I will ensure I pass on all of your feedback to our employees who will be thrilled to know how much you enjoyed their stay and how helpful you found them.

I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Sincerely,

Paul Michael

“Stayed using Tesco vouchers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed here for a weekend as a couple using tesco clubcard vouchers. We thought that as we were using these we would be given an old room however this was not the case.
The room was lovely, very spacey, very comfy super king size bed and clean. Breakfast in the morning was beautiful, couldnt complain about anything. All the staff were very helpful and the hotel is in a great loaction.
The only slight downside is that they only have a small car park (around 10 cars) that you have to pay for so we had to park on the multi storey oppoiste the hotel and pay for a 48 hour stay and i did not feel my car was safe on there. However this couldnt really be helped in a city centre location.
Overall very good stay and would go back.

“Great Staff, Excellent Location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

This stay was for our wedding night, upon arriving to the hotel we were greeted by the friendly concierge staff. When we went to check in we were seen to right away, the staff were very polite and friendly. As it was our wedding night Emily the young girl on reception upgraded our room for us I cannot thank her enough for this as it was a beautiful room. She was extremely helpful and gave us a map of Nottingham and showed us where everything was, couldn't of asked for much more really, 5* service :) There was lift access to the room, and it was a lovely large room with a nice view, the bathroom was clean with fresh towels and toiletries. The king size bed was great and extremely comfortable. We didnt experience much noise in the night, the floorboards were a little creaky but we cant complain really.

The pool area was fantastic, although the pool is really shallow its nice for a dip and a short swim.

The breakfast was lovely and had a huge variety of different foods.

Overall we had a fantastic stay and will definitely be returning again.
