I've been staying here on and off for almost four years and it is my home from home.
***The staff are this hotel's best asset.***
They work hard, with enthusiasm and are keen to offer their guests a pleasant and comfortable stay. As a single traveller with health issues they are always happy to help me and ensure I am allocated a room which is convenient.
My welcome is always friendly and I feel that they do take a personal pride in the quality of my stay.
I've had occasional minor problems when I've stayed but these have always been dealt with either immediately or certainly by my next visit and their Goodnight Guarantee does what it says on the tin.
The rooms are of a high standard both in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The bathrooms are improving (my pet scrutiny) and on my last visit, just the other day, there was a distinct improvement in standards in that area. And I'm persnickety!
The bed linen is crisp, the pillows comfortable and with the recent addition of triple glazing - sleep comes easily and there is no disturbance at all from noise.
There is a lovely desk in the room, a flat screen TV and their internet access is good value too at a mere £3 per 24 hours. (I think I'm right in saying the first half an hour is free). They also have a well stocked, if extortionately priced, vending machine.
This hotel is not the cheapest in the area and cannot be described, in my opinion, as a budget hotel any longer. But - and it is a big but - it's location is perfect for motorway access, is a short taxi ride from the city centre is that is your want (about a fiver). There is plenty of parking and a pub restaurant next door.
Now - the food there is ok - more than edible but far from gourmet. The recent addition of a carvery is a good one - and if you lie your beef rare - don't have it...otherwise it is good value pub food.
