“Pauldsha & Gil”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We had a lovely 4 day Xmas break with our dog in this very friendly and up market hotel.
They made us all welcome especially the dog which is great news for all pet lovers.
To be able to stay in a very nice hotel with your dog and not get a 'down graded room' because your pet is with you is a welcome change.
A great location in the yorkshire moor national park, beautiful countryside and walks with some lovely local surrounding villages and easy access to Scarborough and other coastal attractions.
Our room was in the courtyard, very nicely decorated and immacutely kept.
All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the meals were excellent.
All in all can not wait to go again, highly recommended, we loved every minute.

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms are nice and quiet as there is no one above or below you

“Weekend chill out seekers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

From the moment we arrived my husband, I and our 2 dogs were made most welcome by the staff. I had discussed our requirement for a quiet room with easy access outside for the dogs when making our booking and the Harrogate Suite was just that. The room was well decorated and despite an extremely icy cold weekend, the room was warm with no trace of dog hairs or doggy odour.
We had evening dinner in the bistro where the dogs could be with us (a more formal dining room is available if you don't have dogs, or want to eat meals without dogs around).
We both enjoyed our meals and the complementary amuse-bouche and taster desert were nice touches to the meal. Breakfast was also good. Both well presented with good service.
The hotel offers lovely grounds to wander in, or across the road is a large wood, ideal for dog owners, although the paths are very steep in parts and not suitable for those with restricted walking abilities, push chairs or wheelchairs.
Overall an excellent, relaxing stay.

“A bit of a disappointment”

This a supeb setting and was extremely convenient for the purpose of the trip, but the overall experience was a bit of a disappointment. Dinner appeared to be expensive, so we opted for the nearby Moorcock Inn at Langdale End - it may not appear in the "Good Food Guide" but an absolute must for anyone wanting to experience the ultimate old fashioned traditional Yorkshire pub.

My standard room in the annexe was perfectly adequate, although the radiator in the bathroom didn't work, but the sound proofing was poor - you could hear every cough in the next door room. And when the doors closed.......

Breakfast was a serious disappointment. No kippers, and I had a horrible suspicion that the scrambled eggs were made from egg powder - they were very white in colour. The bacon and sausages were completely tasteless - where could they have got them from? And we had to do a major search to find any marmalade - I think the little containers when we eventually located them were "Golden Shred".......

Having read the other reviews we might just have been unlucky and off season - there appeared to be only one other couple at breakfast, but this was Best Western at its least impressive......

““Amazing - Best Place to eat - never fails to surprise””
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Go through the front door & experience a different world. I have eaten here 3 times this year & each time has been excellent - superb food, elegant atmosphere, great attention to detail & guests. I always doubted people who said they'd had meat that melted in their mouth, but I doubt no more after having eaten roast Beef at GT - it really does! Saturday & Sunday lunch are great value for money, especially for special occasions. Highly recommended.

“Perfect Christmas at Ox Pasture Hall Country Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Thank you to Lynsey, Alan and staff for a fantastic Christmas holiday – hotel set in beautiful countryside just 2 miles from Scarborough. Loved everything about the hotel, in particular, the food and rooms were of a very high standard. For all you dog lovers out there I cannot recommend this hotel enough – the dog was made very welcome and we ate most of our meals in the bistro where she could be with us. I would like to add that the menu in the bistro was exactly the same as in the main restaurant and the standard of service was equally as good. Normally, when accompanied by your dog, you are allocated a ‘dodgy’ room but not here, our room, called fountain, which was in the courtyard, overlooked the countryside, was very spacious and nicely decorated. All staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. All in all a perfect holiday and we will definitely be looking to stay here again. Thank you all.

Room Tip: We had a room in the courtyard called 'Fountain'
