This is a wonderful, traditional inn, in a beautiful location. If you're looking for good food, comfortable and clean accommodation and a warm welcome, then this is for you.
The jewels in the crown of this establishment are the wonderful people who work here, always happy to help and service with a smile every time. Well done to Johnny and Hilda for getting it so right. The regulars are a happy bonus too. Our second visit here, we will be back again and again.

Stop here on our way south from Edinburgh. Had a lovely meal and one of the best cheese platters ever. Will make it a regular stop from now on.

We paid £59 on groupon and could not complain. Our room room 6 was above the bar but we were in it till closing so it was not a problem for us. It was very spacious lovely and clean co mfortable bed - really very nice! The breakfast was beautifully cooked with good local ingredients - plenty of it and lovely staff too...
We ate in the bar as there is nowhere else really another pub up the road - but we went in and it was pretty empty although the people were friendly. the dining room was freezing so we just came back to the Bay Horse. the food was good but a little expensive for what you got. It was nicely cooked and a reasonable selection to choose from. we visited nearby hexham and also Bellingham- we enjoyed our stay! In our room one of the radiators was notworking so it ws a little chilly - we did mention it on the Saturday but it did not get fixed.
Apart from that it was great - staff very attentive and i would reccommend it its a nice place if you want a quiet break.

Got this deal with a Groupon voucher which not only the 2 nights but free drinks on arrival but also 2 free beakfasts. Complete bargain. It meant that me and my daughter could have a couple of days away from the menfolk and just do nothing.

Room small but cosy and warm and above all CLEAN. Same as most have mentioned here the "ensuite" was an eye opener especially since we thought it was a cupboard. My daughters smaller frame had no problem using the shower and she enjoyed it however my over sized derrier would have struggled. However just pleased to have en suite and with limited room space it's a good compromise.The room we were in was over the bar and the smoking area however the noise on a Sunday and Monday night was really quite muted and any wiff of smoke was soon shut out when the window was shut.

Food yummie and home cooked. Would have preferred cheaper but then I am a cheap sort of person. However very happy with the final bill as we left.

The natives are friendly.

Staff are lovely. Plenty of them as well so if you felt you needed something it wasn't hard to find a member of staff.

My only suggestion is sofas. We weren't planning on being out and about this was 2 days of slobbing for us and although the bar is comfy with plenty of seating a couple of squishy sofas would have been appreciated. Although I know it would be a tight squeeze the hard chair taken out of room 4 and replaced with a soft one would have been nice as it meant all our lounging was done on the bed.

More than happy to book here again.

BTW no ones mentioned the Horses. This Inn actually does have a small stable just next to the car park. Lovely horses that you can go and pet. Just through the small paddock in front of the stables is a gentle slope to the river. Beautiful to look at in Autumn however grass was a bit slippy with the rain so we didn't risk going closer but in the dryer warmer months a lovely little picnicing area.
