Montcoffer B&B is located in the lovely little town of Bardon Mill, which I fell in love with immediately. Our hostess, Dehlia, showed us to our room with little fanfare, but everything was clean and in order. The two accommodations are housed in what was the old stableblock, and host John has succeeded in transforming this space into really elegant ensuite rooms. It was clean, fresh, and tastefully decorated, although quite small by American standards. I particularly admired the retro look of the bathroom. We had tea/coffee and cookies in our room, as well as bottled water and extra milk in a small refridgerator. It was rather chilly outside, but our room was comfortably heated. A wonderul breakfast is served in an adjacent room, which also has a fireplace and a good selection of classical books to peruse. The garden shows the result of careful tending, and parking is off-street and safe. We really enjoyed our time here, and would recommend the Montcoffer to anyone looking to visit Hadrians Wall country.

I stayed at Montcoffer and would like to recommend the B@B. The room was clean and attractive. The breakfast selection was good and the cooked breakfast was very tasty.

Both Host and Hostess were very interesting and informative. I went on a lovely walk near the B@B which they had suggested and it was very enjoyable.

Although a car would be best, I was using the bus for transportation and it worked out just fine.

I obtained the name of the B@B from the Rick Steves' guidebook and made the arrangements by e-mail.

A big plus is that the room was on ground floor which was very good.
