My partner and I stayed at Hallbarns for one night while attending a wedding at the Battlesteads in nearby Wark (3 miles away). At first confused about the location, (as google map places this B&B on the green at Wark!), we found it without any problems as it's just off the main road that follows Hadrians Wall. Margaret and her husband were fantastically welcoming and even picked us up from the Battlesteads once the wedding party was over, as taxi's are few and far between. The whole property was spotless and homely, with a log burning fire in the front room where guests could sit and relax. A full cooked breakfast was was made to order at a time we specified the night before, and was served up in a cosy breakfast room. A basket of toys were even bought out for our friends 1 year old to have a play on the floor. Our bedroom was slightly chilly, but it was a large family room. The shower was hot, and bathroom well heated. There was even an electric blanket for those that like it really toasted, but we didn't need it.
Overall, a fantastic stay - nothing bad to say
