We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Carraw and had a lovely time. Not only was the weather truly wonderful for this time of year but the hospitality shown by both Leah & Kevin was fantastic.
The rooms are very comfortable (albeit Vindolanda is 'cosy') and offer a TV with DVD player & iPOD docking station, tea & coffee making facilities, wonderful home made biscuits and free water each day. The room is well maintained and, as has been said previously, the bed very comfortable.
I would echo previous comments in that the breakfast Leah serves up is truly wonderful with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit, toast, croissants as well as your choice of a freshly cooked hot breakfast - I challenge you to eat lunch ! The location is remote but that is very much part of the attraction and they are definitely worth finding.
Although we decided to eat at some of the local restaurants (I thoroughly recommend Battlesteads at Wark) Leah does offer an evening meal if you make a reservation and they have a fully stocked bar.
Leah & Kevin were both very helpful; genuinely interested in what we were up to and how they could help as well as great company. Our stay was to attend a family wedding but we very much hope to return and enjoy the country / a walk along Hadrian's Wall.
