I stayed in the bunk house of Greencarts who also do B&B and camping.
I would not recommend staying here if you can find alternative accommodation in the area, especially for walkers as its a bit of a distance from Hadrians wall.
We arrived exhausted after a long day on Hadrians wall. The hostess greeted us warmly enough and we uncomfortably laughed off her anti-Irish tirade about previous Irish guests. The bunkbarn was in fairness was fell equipped and clean, with sheets and towels supplied , though one downstairs toilet and a shower would not be suitable if the bunkhouse was at capacity (12 beds). We were invited to help ourselves to tea and coffee and frozen pizza from the fridge. We had assumed the 99p Aldi pizza were free considering the pretty hefty bunkbarn price of £19pp. Much to our surprise the following morning we were charges £4 for our one miserable pizza. On top of the £19pp we got a very poor breakfast for £6 each. The fry-up was cold (it was made in the farmhouse and brought to us in the barn), and we had to made our own tea and toast, got no juice/yogurts and had to wash up the plates afterwards.
To top it all off, some kids from the camp site came into the bunkbarn during the night and were banging on doors and work everyone up. The owners didn’t seem too bothered and shrugged the whole thing off as “just kids”
