We were a family group of 8 adults. We took up all of the B&B rooms. Sandra was very welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A good breakfast was provided, but not evening meals, however we were provided with a take away menu and food brought to us. About half a mile from the Walk, which seemed a lot further getting there at the end of our day, and only a short distance the next morning!!
Would recommend staying here

“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

After a long day walking Hadrian's Wall Trail we were relieved to find this excellent B&B less than a mile from the trail. After a warm welcome from our host Sandra we were shown to our spacious and very comfortable rooms. The evening meal was a wonderful roast chicken with all the trimmings, the following days full English was equally as good, we all have big appetites but even we could not clear all the food that Sandra prepared. We left rested and revived with excellent packed lunches for the day ahead. I cannot comment on the camping and bunkhouse as we were in the B&B but if you are walking the wall I would strongly recommend that you stop here.

“Very good value bunkhouse”

Myself and 7 friends walked Hadrian's wall this summer and stayed here on our second night - the accommodation was good - we were so pleased to have our own dining room and kitchen facilities! The only drawback was a single shower and toilet shared by 8 of us which meant delays in getting warm and dry after a long day walking. Breakfast was excellent but sadly the dinner and lunchboxes we got from there was pretty poor. Overall excellent value though, and the staff were very helpful.

“These people know how to charge!”

I stayed in the bunk house of Greencarts who also do B&B and camping.
I would not recommend staying here if you can find alternative accommodation in the area, especially for walkers as its a bit of a distance from Hadrians wall.
We arrived exhausted after a long day on Hadrians wall. The hostess greeted us warmly enough and we uncomfortably laughed off her anti-Irish tirade about previous Irish guests. The bunkbarn was in fairness was fell equipped and clean, with sheets and towels supplied , though one downstairs toilet and a shower would not be suitable if the bunkhouse was at capacity (12 beds). We were invited to help ourselves to tea and coffee and frozen pizza from the fridge. We had assumed the 99p Aldi pizza were free considering the pretty hefty bunkbarn price of £19pp. Much to our surprise the following morning we were charges £4 for our one miserable pizza. On top of the £19pp we got a very poor breakfast for £6 each. The fry-up was cold (it was made in the farmhouse and brought to us in the barn), and we had to made our own tea and toast, got no juice/yogurts and had to wash up the plates afterwards.
To top it all off, some kids from the camp site came into the bunkbarn during the night and were banging on doors and work everyone up. The owners didn’t seem too bothered and shrugged the whole thing off as “just kids”

“Rather Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

Room was rather tight and the en-suite was very tight, shower rather erratic. All this was just about acceptable but the welcome was not very warm and the information on where to eat was poor. Accepting their recommendation on a place to eat was very expensive and bitterly disappointing after a long day on Hadrian's wall. You have been warned. Once you are here you will have limited choices on eating places and I suspect this is capitalized on. Breakfast was not great, no juice....and not any fresh farm produce in sight!

Room Tip: Not the one at the top of the stairs on the left!
