When we finally found the Hallbank (the GPS could not without a street address) we were told that there would be a wedding (with a band) going on that night. It was quite loud and the entire property was full with wedding guests except for us.
The next morning, I was quite surprised when the owner never inquired (or apologized) about the noise the previous night.
The 2nd night we were the ONLY guests in the property and again..not a word about the wedding, no inquiries about where we were going, how we enjoyed the stay... nothing.
Very expensive for what we received.

We stopped here for two nights as it was very local to a family wedding we were attending in Hexham. We were given the choice of which two rooms we wanted, and chose the two on the top floor. Beatifully clean and each room tastfully decorated with real quality furnishings. Everything you could want in the room. Breakfast was served in Phat Catz, the ajoining quirky cafe, and was delicious. They also did the catering for the wedding, which was excellent. The owner made us very welcome, and her roast beef was the best ever. Thank you for making our weekend in your beautiful guest house so enjoyable, and comes with our highest recommendation. You have a true gem there.

We stayed one night in July 2010 in Hallbank Guest House. We had a beautifully furbished room (Ryan) . It was spotless and very comfortable.

Breakfast was very nice. Well cooked and presented.

Staff was a bit reserved, but not rude at all.
It would have been great to get more info: for instance how the minibar worked.

Strange was that they preferred us to by cash. Paying with a credit card would have meant + 14 pounds on our bill.

We spent 2 nights here while walking Hadrian's wall, the service we received was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast, a great range of hot and cold options (I had all of them). The bebroom was large with an en-suite shower, fresh towels and molton brown toiletries.

The B&B is in a handy location for public transport (both trains and buses along the wall).

I wouldn't hesitate to come here again
