“amazing night, amazing food, will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and for my 50th birthday. It was just fantastic. A historic castle in lovely grounds, on arrival we upgraded to stay in the castle itself rather than the grounds and our room had a sunken bath and sauna! super kingsize bed...four poster, just set the scene for a romantic evening ahead perfectly...then the 5 course dinner...what can i say...superb!!

“Over priced”

We stayed at this hotel in September 2011 we were in the annex down across the grounds. The room was poor for a supposedly 5 star. The bathroom was tatty. The breakfast was aimed at people wishing to diet and not going out into the countryside or having a reasonable appetite.
On the plus side it is set in beautiful gardens and the peacocks are an attraction, but they do make a lot of "mess". Watch where you put your feet, can be a problem if you have young children with you..

“Wonderful !”

We recently visited for a family wedding and stayed in the Castle View section of the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and courteous, food in the restaurant was extremely good, the room was fabulous and the staff were very helpful with my daughter who, due to an accident, was in a wheelchair. Room service was excellent, the best breakfast I've had in years!! The next time we visit the UK and need to go North this will be a definite stop for us!! The whole experience was a delight!

“A disappointing experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We attended a wedding reception at Langley Castle and stayed overnight. The wedding reception meal was perfectly adequate, but we felt that we were being excessively charged for items such as drinks and overnight accommodation. We tried to get the room rate discounted from the standard rack rate of £169 for bed and breakfast when we booked, but as a captive audience in our status as wedding guests, they were not interested in doing any negotiations. Our accommodation involved a walk in the wind and rain across a garden and car park from the main castle for which we paid, in our opinion, an exhorbitant amount. Our breakfasts the followng morning comprised of a full English remeniscent of 'Joe's Cafe' and my wife had a piece of smoked haddock (tail end) which was so small that it was completely covered by the poached egg. Never have we encountered such a disappointing breakfast in many years. The overall experience left us feeling that, as a captive audience, they were not interested in giving good customer service or giving value for money, but that their main objective was swelling their coffers whilst giving as little as possibe in return.

“Grand place to stay and be treated like the King of the Castle!”

I was visiting from America. We arrived after lunch the staff fixed us a wonderful sandwich tray and served us in the drawing room by the fire. My name is Langley so I was interested in all the history and was taken on a special tour of the chapel on the roof. Our hostess was lovely and took great care. The rooms were wonderful, the food and service were the best. My hope is to return someday soon. Thank you for a dream memory stay!!!!
