The fact that its right across the street from the Travelodge is even more amusing.... This is a High Quality Budget Hotel. The Rates are great - the rooms are very clean and the hotel is clearly concerned about its reputation as they were painting everywhere when we were there and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were fairly basic but clean and very modern. When we thought something could be better we remembered what we'd paid and that we were getting good value for our money compared to across the road!.....

Although the street in which it is located is a little run-down, we found the hotel itself to be modern and clean. York city centre is only a few minutes away on foot, so sights, shops, and pubs/restaurants are within easy reach. Breakfast was a top-class hot buffet and dinner was good, if a slightly limited menu. The hotel restaurant was closed for lunch, but there are several nearby options, so this was no big deal. The rooms are stylish and big enough, although not massive. The bar service is friendly.

Stayed for three nights on a business trip. Friendly staff, modern clean hotel. York Minster 15mins walk. My only moan - rubbish toaster at breakfast it either warmed the bread up or incinerated it. Probably better value breakfast across the road at Wetherspoons. My tip - If you come out of the hotel and turn right walking towards the city centre and take a right on to St Denneys Road. It drops you on to Walmgate where there are some nice restaurants and will take you to York Minster and the Shambles.

Everything about this hotel is great. Beds are very comfy. Breakfast is lovely. Great location and staff are brilliant.
