“warm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I enjoyed my stay in Ashley and the bath in Room 4. I think I will return to York and Ashley house again and again. I always sleepless if I change a place(bed) in the night, but I slept well and had a dreamless night. I really love the CD(classic, jazz, relax music) and books in the living room. It was snowing heavily in York, and I still remember the scene from my room in the morning. Makes me feel home and relax.

“2 night stay in York”

My girlfriend and I stopped here for 2 nights, and we enjoyed the stay very much. The bed was comfortable and the room very homely. The breakfasts were nice, and we slept well as it was quiet and dark, despite being in a city. If I had to pick faults, the only things were that the WiFi didn't work on my phone, but that could just be my temperamental iPhone, and at one point, the old style toilet smelt a bit like sewage at one point and the flush was slightly noisy. But overall, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable during our stay.

Room Tip: The room on the first floor on the left side was very good, comfortable and good views of the other...

“Warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had a nice stay in the top room with bath tub aside the bed, very authentic and romantic. Room was clean, warm and nicely decorated. The breakfast was yummy with plenty of choice including a daily special!
We recommend this guest house to anybody that want a relaxing stay in York! (which is lovely place by the way).

“Cosy and Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Chose this guest house having seen positive reviews, and was hopeful that we had finally found a guest house in York that I would be willing to return to - thankfully it was a success! The guest house is situated in a very quiet area, with on-street parking (permit provided) and a bus stop round the corner to take you to various locations within the city centre. If you fancy a walk, Micklegate is only 10 mins away then perhaps a further 10 mins to the centre. Phil is a very welcoming host and the house itself is lovely, we had one of the attic rooms which was rightly described as 'cosy' i.e not very big but none the worse for it, was very quiet and comfortable.
Also pleased to report that the breakfast (always my barometer for a good guest house) was excellent, grilled rather than fried and with obviously fresh produce.
We are regular visitors to York and I am pleased to say that under the current ownership we will definitely be returning to Ashley Guest House in the future.

Room Tip: Attic room 5 is quite small but very quiet and comfortable, ideal for a short stay on a budget.

“Welcoming and relaxing guest house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Spent a wonderful week at Ashley Guesthouse. Very warm, welcoming atmosphere and everywhere is kept spotlessly clean. Good choice of delicious breakfasts provided by cheery and friendly people.

The guest house is located within easy access of the town centre and near a beautiful park. The room was comfortable and well equipt with everything we would need. Phil ensured that we had all the information we needed to find our way around York and about various attractions.

I would definitely recommend Ashley Guesthouse to all my friends and family and we will be going back when we next visit York.
