I never write reviews on any of the hotels that I have stayed in but after staying at the Ardmore I felt compelled to.
I booked at the Ardmore through Vist York (highly recommeded) as although we had stayed in York before this time was for our honeymoon so I sought advice.
Before even arriving at the Guest House I was incredibally happy as we had been upgraded to the four poster room completely free of charge as it was our honeymoon, something that the proprietor did not have to do but we found a lovely touch.
The Ardmore is ideally situated, right in the middle of York, near the Minster and city centre and not too far a walk from the train station.
On our arrival we were greated by the lovely Vera who I have to say was so welcoming and friendly from the start of our visit right to the second we left.
After reading the reviews on here I was expecting the four poster room to be small to average in size but was suprised to find ample room and storgae space, a good sized bathroom and the room was impecibally clean, and everything we could have wanted.
Without a doubt however the best thing about the Ardmore is Vera. We have stayed in many hotels and have never come across a proprietor that was so accomodating, knowledgable, had time for you and wanted to meet your every need. I doubt there is anything about York that Vera does not know and she gave us some advice on nice areas to visit that we may have missed otherwise. Vera made our honeymoon very special and memorable and the next time we visit York we will know where to stay!

This b&b is in a great location, close to the Minster, clean and good value.

I would stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend this b&b, although the rooms are small they offer all the facilities you need.

Vera was very friendly and accommodating, she kept our luggage for us on the day of check out until we were due to go for our train.

The guest house is a great place to stop' It's clean and tidy and the location of the guest house is superb just a very short walk to Monk Bar or the splendid Minster. Vera was a great host, chatty and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was excellent. We were allowed to leave our bags until late in the afternoon which was a great help. We would recommend this little guest to our best friends!
