This was our second visit here during the Xmas market, and will stay here again. Excellent location, short walk from city centre, with free car park during stay. Room small but everything you need. Clean and comfy. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

Trying to find a hotel in the centre of York which could only do one night, at late notice, was difficult and whilst the Ardmore wasnt my first choice I am so pleased that I stayed there.

As has been mentioned by several reviewers, Vera is a welcoming host and she could not do enough for me and my wife. Even when it was only me that came down for breakfast, she immediately asked did I want to take anything to my wife and after having my breakfast Vera provided me with a little tray of toast, honey and butter. How thoughtful.

Parking is round the back and with parking spaces a premium in the city centre it was great to leave my car there and I had no intention of using it as the Ardmore is just a short walk away from the delights of York.

The rooms are not massive but they are clean, well furnished and ideal for a stay in York. Would I recommend the Ardmore--most definitely as it truly represents excellent value for money.

What a treat! The enthusiastic welcome by Vera, the delightful owner was a great start to our wonderful stay. The location was terrific - walking distance to everything. The guest house was charming: rooms were comfortable, very nice and absolutely immaculate. The breakfast was excellent. We, along with our 2 sons in their mid-20's, all enjoyed our stay. Should we return to York, we look forward to another stay with Vera.

I booked Ardmore for its location which is extremely close to York St John University where I was attending a week long residential. Vera, the owner/manager is a lovely lady who prepares an excellent breakfast and maintains very nice clean rooms. The rooms are small as are many of the B&Bs around so that is not a negative in my mind. The only criticism that I have is that when I asked if they had Internet I received the wrong answer which was somewhat disappointing. I overcame this with the purchase of a dongle which, added to what I paid was still a very good overall price. I hope Vera takes my advice and procures a spare dongle for her guests that may need to access the Internet. Otherwise an excellent stay.
