“Excellent location- great hosts!”

The Dalescroft is a great base from which to explore York. It is situated only a 15-20 minute walk from the city centre, which you can walk to via a pleasant riverside route. Iris and Dennis provided a warm, comfortable and friendly home from home. The room was very spacious, with settee and tv and a great shower. The bed was large and v comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty, with excellent provision for vegetarians, a generous amount of cereals, yoghurts, toast, jams and juices. Thankyou very much for a very pleasant stay!

“Home from home, just how a Guesthouse should be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

We were welcomed by Iris at the Dalescroft with a lovely friendly smile. The first thing I noted was how clean this Guesthouse is. We had the top romm at the front and it was spacious with a lovely memory-foam bed. There is ensuite facilities in each room, hairdryer in the dressing table and tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits. There is ample parking along the road and Iris will provide you with your permit on arrival and the road is not generally busy so you can park with confidence. Iris has excellent knowledge of York and directed us to two excellent restraunts. Breakfast is excellent and is served quickly and is well presented with a good variety of cereals etc.
The walk to town is a good 10 minutes but it is an easy walk with not much in the way of hills.
I will without doubt consider using this Guest house in future and at £65 for ensuite plus breakfast so close to the town centre it is a bargain.

“Great place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We found Dalescroft through an internet search and our choice proved to be the best we could make. From start to finish our stay was perfect - a warm, friendly welcome, comfortable room and really good breakfast freshly cooked unlike most hotels. Dalescroft is perfectly placed for access to the centre of York. A walk through Rowntree Park, along by the river, across a bridge and you are there. Alternatively there is a bus route. All in all a great stay. Thank you Iris and Dennis. Highly recommended.

“Great weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

We have just returned from a lovely weekend in York. We arrived at Dalescroft and Iris introduced herself, her hubby and her dog to us, we were made very welcome. We were given a map and was given directions to the city centre which was a nice 10min walk.
The rooms were lovely and clean, bed nice and soft. We had a kettle, tea coffee and biscuits. In the on suite there were shower gels and soaps in a nice litttle dish for us to use if we wished along wuth towels. The room was cleaned each day and tea, coffee biscuits replaced.

Breakfast....there were cerials, fresh fruit, yoghurt, frest juices tea coffee to have. The a full English breakfast of 2 sausage, 2 bacon, beans, egg, tomatoes and toast with a selection of jams.

We had our own front door key as well as our room key which meant we could return from a night out at anytime in the morning,

I would be booking back up when we next come to York,.

Thank you for your warm hospitality....Im off to join Weight Watchers now after the 2 big breakfasts.
