“Cosy, Friendly and Comfortable”

We stayed at St Raphael for 2 nights for a birthday trip to York after my partner read the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. We stayed in Goodramgate(room) on the first floor. It was very comfortable and very quiet. Spotlessly clean and nicely furnished, it was welcoming and cosy. There were generous tea/coffee facilities in the room and some nice extra touches such as fresh milk to have with your tea in the room which was in the fridge in the breakfast room. Breakfast was fresh and generous. Dom and Zoe were so friendly and welcoming(and Milo, the dog) is a real cutie. There was a helpful book in the room pointing out good York eateries and cafes, places of interest etc and Dome & Zoe also provided plenty of good local information as well. The B& B was situated a 5 minute walk from the centre so very conveniently located. Would definitely return and recommend

as everyone else Dom & Zoe were on the button, don't know how they cope!! but they do.nothing was too much trouble and they do the best breakfast i have had in a long time and i was a tour coach driver for 15 years.everything was so relaxed and york was a jewel of a city.St Raphael has on street parking bit off putting! but relax!!!! this was a dream set in a quiet road so no hassle.a small shop at the end of the road for papers and essentials and about a 1/2 mile along the road into York(on the way) is a Sainsburys shop with cash point to the side. our stay was soooooooooooo enjoyable we are booking again.

“Wonderful stay in York”

Were travelling south from Scotland to Cambridge and called for a next-to-the last minute stop in York. Our first place we called was full, but they strongly recommended St. Raphael's-- and we were glad they did. Arrived late in the evening, but found the house with no problem. Easy check in via their unique automated check in system (you'll have to try it to understand), but it was fantastically easy and much better than expecting innkeepers to stay up late for guests. Our room was "The Minster" and was very lovely, quiet, clean, and comfortable. Met Dom and Zoe (and Ollie, their 10 month old) the next morning for a fantastic breakfast cooked by Dom-- homemade bread, fresh, local eggs and meats, and badly needed coffee were welcome! You should take a minute to check out the great photos on the walls taken by Dom and/or Zoe's Dad. They had great tips on where to tour, shortcuts through "snickelways" in York, and superb recommendations for places to eat. Overall, a wonderful inn staffed by a great young couple.
