Were travelling south from Scotland to Cambridge and called for a next-to-the last minute stop in York. Our first place we called was full, but they strongly recommended St. Raphael's-- and we were glad they did. Arrived late in the evening, but found the house with no problem. Easy check in via their unique automated check in system (you'll have to try it to understand), but it was fantastically easy and much better than expecting innkeepers to stay up late for guests. Our room was "The Minster" and was very lovely, quiet, clean, and comfortable. Met Dom and Zoe (and Ollie, their 10 month old) the next morning for a fantastic breakfast cooked by Dom-- homemade bread, fresh, local eggs and meats, and badly needed coffee were welcome! You should take a minute to check out the great photos on the walls taken by Dom and/or Zoe's Dad. They had great tips on where to tour, shortcuts through "snickelways" in York, and superb recommendations for places to eat. Overall, a wonderful inn staffed by a great young couple.
