my review has been tainted by the sheer greed of the owners of this lovely little guest house which i have stayed in before,I had to cancel due to a heart attack 3 days before i was due to stay there, My daughter canceled while i was in hospital 2 days before i was due,Now i know how busy york guest houses are and know this room will have been re sold,So why does the owner have to keep my £70 deposit ?.I know times are hard but when i have got the message through to them from my hospital bed so they can re sell the room wouldnt you think i would get a refund of my deposit. I didnt even expect all the money back, When i e mailed them about this they said i could have a reduction of £30 off my next stay,( MY NEXT STAY WONT BE AT THIS GUEST HOUSE ), If they are so desperate for money they can keep it but it will be the last me or my family stay there.

We have just come back from a weekend away at the Brentwood with freinds.The Brentwood is very clean,warm,comfortable and quiet at night.The Brentwood is only 15 mins walk away from the center of york.Excellent value for money

Have just come back from weekend at The Brentwood as our son got married in York. The guest house is excellent, rooms beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. Easty walking distance into the center of York. Would highly recommend excellent value for money.

Recently stayed at the Brentwood with member of my family. First time I had stayed at Brentwood so a little apprehensive. However, it was a really nice guest house - very clean and warm rooms, slightly small rooms but then that doesn't matter because you are hardly ever in them! The breakfast was fantastic - as a vegetarian, the owner was more than happy to change my cooked breakfast. It was quiet at night but close enough to the city centre to walk in during the day, return in the afternoon and then walk back in during the evening to find a pub or restaurant. I frequently travel to York for short breaks and would gladly return to the Brentwood again. Would certainly recommend it to friends. Thank you!
