We stayed at this welcoming B&B on a cold Feb 3 and 4. The place is about 20 mins brisk walk along the river from York centre and, on a nice day, it is a lovely walk. It was very cold when we were there but we still managed it on Day 1 albeit the snow on Day 2 made for a cold time generally and we couldn't face the walk back on the 2nd night.
The welcome from the hosts is friendly and good and they do what they can to make you feel welcome. We had a room on the top floor. The room was appointed nicely albeit relatively basic and not over lavish. It was very clean. With temperatures outside at minus 5, even with the heating up to the max, when we returned on day 2, it was still cold. However, it definitely warmed up during the night. Maybe we were just cold when we got back from a cold night out. Our bathroom was next door and this would not have been our preference. We would have preferred an en suite. The bathroom was dated albeit very clean. The ceiling was low over the bath and meant that you couldn't easily stand to use the hand shower albeit you wouldn't anyhow as there was no screen. I prefer showers so had to make do with a bath. The towels were lovely and fluffy but too small.
Breakfast was terrific and beautifully presented. You couldn't fault that.
We were made to feel very much at home and this is a good B&B if you want somewhere not too far from York but not central.
Room Tip: If you want an en suite, don't go for Room 5
