I have to agree with another reviewer who complains of being ignored and kept waiting. Myself and my Mother (aged 80) visited the pub at 6pm on Sun 11th Sept, we had tickets for a performance at the nearby Barbican theatre commencing 7.30pm. The pub was not busy and we ordered a Sunday roast and a Pie dish (both of which must have been already prepared), to cut a long story short, we waited an hour for our food, no-one came to apologise for the delay despite me asking twice as to what was happening, people who arrived after us were served first. When the food arrived it was too hot to eat in the very short time we had left. I do not normally complain but felt in this instance that I must say something- I was very reasonable and mellow in my complaint however the owner told me to "calm down and don't spoil my dinner" he offered no recompence whatsoever however he did give me another half shandy when I suggested he should. This man is rude and arrogant but has an adept and dangerous skill at being charm himself until one orders and pays. The quality of the food does not jusitify the wait, nor the price, for what is after all pub food, and far too much of it. Quality of service would be far preferable to more than anyone could possibly want to eat.
