nice place, stayed here for 2nts while tracing our family back ground very close to york minster and archives ect,

rooms had every thing we needed and were clean would stay here again if im ever in york, the breakfast was as expect nothing amazing but what you would expect anywhere

but most important we were able to parkout side with a permit which was the reason we booked really

On Rick Steve's advice we booked into Bootham Guest House. Very central and convenient. Nice room except very hot at night even with the window open. Breakfast OK but not very good. Coffee was not put into a caraf so "cooked" on the hot plate. OJ very watery. What disappointed us was the fact that the owner was not live in and the help had an attitude problem and left at 4pm until the next morning. She was in fact quite rude to us when we first arrived and then when we questioned the bill. In Rick Steve's book, he said the prices he quoted were good for 2011 if we mentioned his name. They did not honor those prices but did give us a 5% discount but the total was still much higher than the guide book. We had been to several other B&Bs during our visit which were fantastic so expected the same from this one. Will not return there.

Just back from three days in York staying at the Bootham Guest House. It was in a good location , quiet and a fifteen minute walk to the centre.The room was very clean, and had the usual tea/coffee making facilities aswell as a hairdrier .

Breakfast consisted of choice of three ceareal, and a cooked breakfast with choice of how your eggs were done. There was also orange juice, toast , butter and jam.and tea or coffee. All nicely cooked.

Did notice other B & B's even nearer the town centre around the same price. They were usually above an olde worlde pub which I think I may have preferred as it would have been handy to have a nightcap before going to bed , but thats just a personal preferance.

Absolutely love York, have been a few times and will be going back again .

The guest house is situated very close to York City's Football ground, I was warmly welcomed on my arrival and shown to my room on the 2nd floor.
The road itself is very quite and it is about a fifteen minute walk to York centre.
The room itself was very clean and well maintained and was equipped with tea/coffee making facilities & TV which received free-view channels.
Breakfast was included in the price and was well prepared.
Car parking was on-street and you are provided with a permit to allow you to park for free during your stay, Parking in York is can otherwise be very expensive.
Wi-fi internet access is also provide free of charge.
The bottom line if asked would I stay again would be yes
