Both my fiancee and I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to both Ken & Sue for making our first visit to York a very special one and making my birthday extra special !
Now to the review, The Dairy Guest House is a wonderful place to stay, with it`s 6 bedrooms we were in room number 1 looking over the small court yard at the back, it was a lovely laid out room with the most comfortable bed ever ! The shower was a little small, but did the job. The room was also kitted with tv/dvd , tea / coffee facilites , my only small issue with the room was that, what we thought was a connecting room, was in fact a door for a fitted waldrobe which was a bit narrow -
Breakfast you choose the night before and leave you menu on your table before 8pm - the breakfast choice doesnot change but still a good range to pick from - with ceral etc. to start with (help yourself) and then Ken cooks a mean full English to follow-
The b&b is located appx.10-15min slow walk into the centre of York and around 20mins from the railway station (we got a cab (5 mins) from the station and was under a fiver!).
We were both really impressed with Ken & Sue`s hospitality and would not put anybody off staying at the Dairy Guest House.
Just as a side note the b&b also has a good range of "Things to do leaflets" and we can recomend both the "Original Ghost Walk" and a meal at the "Waterfront Resturant" Amazingly both these venus are next door to each other and we only found the ghost walk meeting point (Kings Arms Pub) by chance as we stopped for dinner in the Waterfront !
Overall this was a much better way to stay in York rather than an overprice , over sized hotel.
