“bugs in bed!”

this guest house was not what we were expecting at all. DONT BE FOOLED BY THE PHOTOS. we arrived at the hotel and found that the place was been run pretty much single handed by a young man. (Though he was very friendly and proffesional) we were shown to out room, which on first impression looked ok, then we found the carpets looked filthy, the en-suite was disgusting with a terrible smell. head boards were grubby, then we pulled down the blinds....WOW what a shock...stains all up them!! my partner sat on the bed and i realsied that there was a bug on the headbored. uuurrrggghhhh, then throughout our (not so delightful) stay we noticed more and more of these bugs in the bed...!! after eventuallt falling asleep and then waking up in the morning, we noticed spots ot blood on the bed sheets, then realised they were coming from thesde bugs.....! All in all, it was disgusting and deffinaltely over priced, and cannot believe that this hotel even has a star rating.
For the price i could not have been any more dissapointed. if id have known ive had stayed somewhere else and would advise people to stay away from this guest house!!
THE PHOTOS ARE NOT A REAL REPRESENTATION OF WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY FIND!!!!!

Room Tip: dont choose any room..... STAY AWAY

We got stuck in York with the snow, and rather risk it late at night we found this place. They were happy to accomodate us at such short notice and were very helpful with luggage etc.
The breakfast was very extensive, including a full English for only £7.50!

Room Tip: Even though room 12 was for 3 people, they gave us this room and folded the single bed away to make...

“Nice few days here”

Stayed for four nights in November while I was moving house to York, really enjoyed getting to know the staff and the area for the first time. Staff were very courteous and friendly, room was clean and everything straightened and replaced every day. Must have put on a stone from breakfasts, full cooked every day, always tasty. Nice bar downstairs and staff happy to listen to me since I was on my own in the evenings and probably talked too much. No complaints at all, would certainly recommend to friends and family.

Room Tip: Room 14 is quiet and comfy.

“Decent place to stay”

Stayed recently with a group of mates in a big rooms, found the experience comfortable and very nice. Staff were helpful, seemed quite young, one guy seemed to be on the whole weekend we were there though. He was very helpful though with direction and at breakfast and check-in. Breakfast was nice all we could eat for about five pounds which saved us some money for the day. Price of the room was ok between six of us, location wasn't too bad not right in the city but pretty close. Would recommend it to young groups definitely better than having to split up between different rooms or share with strangers in a hostel. Seemed to know York well too so saved a trip to tourist info. Were also happy to let us check in early we got there about 11am and a room was ready for us. Would recommend for sure.

“Good value for money”

Came down to York for my step-sisters wedding in October, was held at the Churchill Hotel so this was ideally placed. Only live about an hour from York so didn't see the point booking anywhere too pricey, chose this because it was cheap and nearby, wasn't expecting a great deal from a cheap guest house other than a bed for the night. Was pleasantly surprise altogether, had a bar which was surprising for a place like this, and an excellent big breakfast which was less surprising but still welcome. Staff were friendly and very helpful, the room was clean and decently equipped. Altogether no complaints whatsoever. Surprised by some of the comments on here, especially the ones comparing it to the Churchill, which is a three star rated hotel rather than three star guest house and as many of my family can attest cost about double the price. Whereas the Churchill is far grander, if that's what you want then you'll have to spend more than here. You get what you pay for, I found blossoms to be very good value for not much money.
