Me and my boyfriend use Travelodge alot, mostly on the basis that we would rather have more money to spend on nice food and days out then splash out on a hotel where we are pretty much just going to sleep.
This Travelodge is one of the nicer we have stayed in (it can be a bit hit and miss!) - clean, well decorated, nice bar area, very presentable bathroom.
Certainly the main selling point is location - set on the brow of the bridge into the city. We drove past many much more expensive hotels which would have required a taxi to get into the centre.
One piece of advice - there is a Yates' bar within 2 minute walk which does very reasonably priced breakfast until noon - much cheaper than the hotel.
One point to note is that there is no parking - Tanner Row NCP is round the corner and you do get a 50%ish discount if you get your ticket validated at reception - we paid £17 for 48 hours which when you take into account how dirt cheap the hotel was, isnt too scandalous.
All in all, would recommend
- Ramada Hotel York
- Ramada Encore York
- Ramada York
- York Ramada
