“Why pay more?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Me and my boyfriend use Travelodge alot, mostly on the basis that we would rather have more money to spend on nice food and days out then splash out on a hotel where we are pretty much just going to sleep.

This Travelodge is one of the nicer we have stayed in (it can be a bit hit and miss!) - clean, well decorated, nice bar area, very presentable bathroom.

Certainly the main selling point is location - set on the brow of the bridge into the city. We drove past many much more expensive hotels which would have required a taxi to get into the centre.

One piece of advice - there is a Yates' bar within 2 minute walk which does very reasonably priced breakfast until noon - much cheaper than the hotel.

One point to note is that there is no parking - Tanner Row NCP is round the corner and you do get a 50%ish discount if you get your ticket validated at reception - we paid £17 for 48 hours which when you take into account how dirt cheap the hotel was, isnt too scandalous.

All in all, would recommend

“"Very good value"”

We took 2 rooms and stayed on a Thursday night in January. Hotel was easy to find and had a convenient 'unofficial' drop off at the front. Our rooms were clean and warm. Staff were extremely helpful and supplied us with extra bedding and came up to the room to switch on the heating.
One room overlooked the courtyard at the back and we did hear a little bit of noise from Wetherspoons, which is located next door. However, this noise ceased at 11:30 and did not disturb us.
Overnight car parking is offerred nearby (5mins walk) at a cost of £2. Considering the cost of the rooms I thought that the hotel provided dood value for money and I would stay here again.

“Good couple of nights”

You know what you get with travelodge but at the third of the cost of other city centre hotels who is complaining the rooms basic functional, but I once stopped at the Hilton York and these rooms for me are as good, walk in shower really refreshing and a 12 o'clock check out brilliant. Cant comment on the breakfast as it was a last minute lazy break so the lie in was important. Staff really helpful as well particularly Nicola who did the night shift with amazing grace having to deal with some odd characters and I don't mean us LOL. Overall excellent value great location very happy stay.
