My first stop on an all-over-England-trip took me to York. Stayed at Avondale Guest House a family runned B&B. Carol is a wonderful host to have and the breakfast was simply marvellous! Various options but an absolute must have is the whisky porridge! Very friendly staff and always ready to help you. Stayed in the single bedroom ensuite which is called Daisy. Small room but beautifully decorated and everything one needs. Sadly York wasn't that interesting (well enough for a one night stay!) but Carol and her team made that more than up. Absolutely recommedable!

This was the best B&B me and my fiance have ever been to. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home and given everything we wanted or needed.
The place was clean,cosy and very inviting. The breakfasts were freshly cooked with fresh, local ingrediants and there was a large range to choose from. It was this weekend that my partner propsed to me and Carole helped in every way she could with the surprize. Its a weekend i will never forget and staying in Avondale Guest House was the perfect choice for a perfect weekend!!
Needless to say We booked again for next year straight away and will continue to stay there for years to come. Thank you Carole

Rooms are very nice and very clean.
Breakfast is great, especially a whisky porrige
Parking is close by and free

Just got back from an excellent 2 night stay at the Avondale. Carole and her staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. It's a lovely guest house and there's a choice of 6 delicious breakfasts (I was just said I didn't get to try all of them!)
