We stayed here and on arrival were told we had been upgraded! The room was large, breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly. This made our short honeymoon break fantastic. We would stay again.

We can't believe this hotel is only 3 star rating, There was nothing we could fault. Our stay was Christmas day and Boxing day, our family had 3 rooms all of which were of exceptional standard. Christmas dinner was superb and the staff made us feel part of their family.Breakfast too was delicious and so much choice. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We visit York often and will cetainly be staying here again. Well done to everyone and thank you.

We have been here twice before but are always objective .Free parking in the front of the hotel is a big plus in York.Whilst it is only a ten minute stroll to the centre buses 12 and 13 are frequent and stop right outside.Were given a good welcome in reception and we were early so the bags were stored for us and put in the room later.The room at the front was warm and welcoming with special glazing so no noise from main road.The breakfast cooked to order from a wide menu was excellent and served by a humourous yorkshireman.In summer the swimming pool is open with a large garden to enjoy.This is a friendly place to stay and very relaxing.

I've stayed in 6 hotels in York in the last 2 years ranging from £80-£150 per night and this is definitely the best. The location is good (10-15 mins walk to the centre), the staff are really friendly and the standard double room we stayed in was fantastic- a good size with lots of character and a very comfy bed. Our room faced the front but there was little noise from the road or other rooms. The breakfast is award winning and deservedly so.
Only negative is the bathroom wasn't very modern- having said that a lot of the hotels have similar bathrooms and when the bedroom and hotel is so lovely it's not that big an issue.
This is the first York hotel that I've stayed in that I'll definitely come back to so the search is finally over!
