I went with my family to York for a weekend visit, and after reading the reviews from the site I chose Burton Villa. Whatever said on the site was true. It's was excellent. Very well located, just a few minutes walk to York Minster. Would definitely recommend.

great little guest house,nice breakfast,friendly ten minutes from centre with parking

We stayed at the Burton Villa the last week of November,for a quick break away. The Burton Villa is 10mins from York Minster which is ideal. Michael is a great host, very welcoming - he took our bags to our room, put on a brew in the breakfast room and had a chat about local attractions worth a visit and also gave us some discount vouchers! Rooms are clean, warm and have tea/coffee facilities and bottled water which are replenished each day. Flat screen tv with digital and dvd player was a nice touch as the B&B has a stock of around 70 DVDs for you to watch if you like. Breakfast was lovely -you can have cereals, fruit juice and then a cooked breakfast of your choice which is fresh and very tasty. Parking round the back was also a bonus. To top off our stay it snowed which was perfect! I would definately recommend this B&B to anyone wanting a central stay but at a reasonable price.

The location was very good for York - near the downtown area. A classic rowhouse that is well kept up. The owner kept saying "It's OK, but it's not the Hilton." And he is right - his service is better than a Hilton. Really. The food is great. It has a few parking places - but they are tight, and he is always available to help with the parking. One of the other guests was on her 7th visit. Hope I get a chance to beat her record. The Tripadvisor reviews were very accurate and helpful.
