“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Had a very pleasant stay at the Burton Villa. The host was very friendly and welcoming and gave us plenty of information with regard to the local attractions and was also able to recommend restaurants.

The location was brilliant – with a nice little park just across the road and a 10 minute walk to the old city walls down Gillygate. Definite bonus having off-road car parking, as York is extremely limited (and quite pricey!) in this respect.

The room wasn't massive, but it was large enough and had all the standard features you would expect (en-suite with a power shower which was great!), TV, tea and coffee making and a comfy bed.

We were offered the full English breakfast (which looked great!), but opted for something lighter. We could have had anything we wanted and it would not have been a problem.

The Burton Villa is what I would consider to be a very good standard B&B which gets the simple things right and treats its guests very well.

Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend.

“Excellent as before!”

This was our second stay at the Burton Villa and as before we couldn't fault it. Fantastic welcome, comfortable room, good location and best breakfast in York! Will definitely be returning. If you want to eat out try Rustique and Guy Fawkes pub - both great. Word of warning, if you are going to the races, avoid the Knavesmire pub as they put the prices up on race day - brewery's fault apparently, but if like us you don't appreciate being ripped off, try the little club down the road instead (St Cuthbert's Club I think it's called!).

“excellent full english.......basic room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Clean b&b, room very basic and small we had the room on the first flight of stairs (room 3 i think!) The couple that owned the b&b were very friendly giving a warm welcome on arrival. Excellent location for exploring york only a 10 minute walk at the most into the city centre. We parked our car behind the B&B,as you dont need to drive use buses if need be. Fantastic breakfast served between 8.30am &10.00am (which is ideal if needing a lie in!!) cereal, fruit juice, yogurts, fresh fruit, then the full monty, what can i say best brekky we've had on holiday. Would more than likely stay there again.

“Comfy, cozy and convenient”

We stayed at this B & B in York for one night. The location was a bit of a walk from the train station-about 20 minutes-but well worth it as the neighborhood was quiet and residential. The owner was very welcoming and accommodated our requests with a smile. The breakfast in the morning was a traditional English breakfast. Try it ALL....such a lovely experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the price is reasonable, especially if you are traveling with a family. The family room had two twin beds and one double bed overlooking the park across the street. Highly enjoyable stay.
