We had a brilliant short break here, thanks to a combination of great location, comfortable room and superb service. We stayed for 2 nights in room 30, overlooking the front of the hotel, with a great view of the minster. The room was a good size, nicely presented, and comfortable, with a good bed, choice of pillows, and plenty of space to unpack clothes (my wife doesn't travel light!), plus a high-speed wireless network. The heating was good and more than compensated for the zero degrees C outside! The breakfast was good, with a wide selection of cereals, fruit, and cooked dishes. But what really made the stay special was the service from the staff - all of them - from reception, porter, housekeeping, breakfast restaurant and evening bistro. They were all welcoming, helpful, and efficient, and had a great combination of service professionalism and human warmth. My wife was unwell during our stay and she commented that she couldn't have chosen a nicer place to be unwell in on holiday. What a pleasure to write a review like this. We'll be back!

This hotel combined the old charm with all the luxury we stayed at the in the begining of Feb for 3 nights, great location, fantastic room, wonderful service at great rates, we will definitely stay in it the next time we are in York

I stayed at this hotel for a mini break with my mum. From the minute we walked into the hotel to the minute we left we felt like royalty. Everyone was great, they couldn't do enough for us. The room was wonderful it was a good size and the cleanliness met our expectations. The little things like plenty of tea coffee and milk available an ironing board and iron in the room, toiletries in the bath room and robes all added to our experience. We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal that was well cooked and beautifully presented. Sonny who looked after us in the restaurant made the whole thing wonderful. All in all our stay was everything we could have hoped for and I have rebooked to go to this hotel with my husband in October.

this is a very good hotel the place is spotless,the staff are so friendly,warm and helpful,the rooms are what they say on the tin a small double still plenty of space though.The breakfast was fresh and service was excellent from all.Then the unique selling point of location,which is perfect.I would highly recommend this hotel and will be returning.
