We are very saddened and upset to read that their stay was spoilt by the TV being loud and the shower running cold - however, we are genuinely surprised that they told us everything had been OK when they checked out.

We have sent the following email of apology to the guests.

"We were so saddened to read that your stay with us had been spoilt by the TV being loud, and the shower going cold. Can I first of all apologise most sincerely for the TV - this is entirely down to me as I have been awaiting an ENT appointment to resolve a hearing issue, and was in hospital on the morning of Monday 23 January to finally have my operation. I am so sorry - I did not realise how loud the TV was, and I only wish you had come down to let me know. Clearly, my problem had been worsening over time, but I have not been watching TV in the dining room on a regular basis so this situation had not arisen before your stay with us.

I am not sure why the shower ran cold - this is not a problem we have encountered before, but again I apologise most sincerely.

I understand from my husband that you didn't point out any of these issues on checking out - if you had done we would most certainly have offered you a discount for your spoilt stay. We strive to ensure all our guests have an enjoyable stay with us, and we are genuinely upset that we fell short of the mark. Whilst we fully support your right to express your opinion in a review, we are sad that we were not given the opportunity to explain and apologise to you in person.

As a gesture of goodwill, we will be refunding your card with £20 today, and hope that you will accept that this was a genuine "one-off" and is certainly not representative of what guests should expect when they stay with us.

We hope potential guests will take this review in context and feel reassured by our other reviews that they can expect the highest standards of service and comfort, and that WE GO TO GREAT LENGTHS TO ENSURE THAT WE NEVER DISTURB GUESTS - with noise or in any other way. If guests ever feel our standards have fallen short of their expectations, we hope they will allow us the opportunity to apologise in person, and resolve the issue to their satisfaction.
